Leviticus 23:23-25 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of
Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye
have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye
shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire
unto the LORD.
Rosh Hashanah occurs on the first and second days of
Tishri.
In Hebrew, Rosh Hashanah means, literally, “head of the year” or “first of the year.” Rosh
Hashanah is commonly known as the Jewish New Year. The name “Rosh Hashanah” is
not used in the Bible to discuss this holiday. The Bible refers to the holiday
as Yom Ha-Zikkaron (the day of remembrance) or Yom Teruah (the day of the
sounding of the shofar). It is also called the Feast of Trumpets. The holiday is
instituted in Leviticus 23:2r3-25. No
work
is permitted on Rosh Hashanah. Much of the day is spent in
synagogue, where the
regular daily
liturgy is
somewhat expanded. In fact, there is a special prayerbook called the machzor
used for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur because of the extensive liturgical changes for these holidays.
Judaism has several different “new years,” a concept which may seem strange
at first, but think of it this way: the American “new year” starts in January,
but the new “school year” starts in September, and many businesses have “fiscal
years” that start at various times of the year. In Judaism, Nissan 1 is the new
year for the purpose of counting the reign of kings and months on the calendar,
Elul 1 (in August) is the new year for the tithing of animals,
Shevat 15 (in February) is the
new year for trees (determining when first fruits can be eaten, etc.), and
Tishri 1 (Rosh Hashanah) is the new year for years (when we increase the year
number. Sabbatical and Jubilee years begin at this time).
Rosh Hashanah is
referred to in the Torah as YOM TERUAH, the Day of the Sounding of the shofar
(or the day of the awakening blast). On Yom Teruah (Rosh
Hashanah), it is imperative for every person to hear (Shema) the shofar. The
mitzvah (biblical commandment) of the shofar is to HEAR (Shema) the shofar being
blown, not actually to blow it yourself, hence the blessing for the shofar, “to
hear the sound of the shofar.” Teruah means “an awakening blast.”
A theme associated with Rosh Hashanah is the theme “to awake.” Teruah is also translated as
“shout.” I believe this is call to awaken Israel to
the 70th week of Daniel.

detailed data

In Hebrew, this constellation we call Virgo is called
Bethulah.
This event occurs about every two to three years as seen from
Jerusalem,
but every year as seen from some point on Earth. This chart also shows a notable
conjunction of Jupiter, Mercury
and Tsemech (Spica) in Bethulah at the same time. Notice on the image above, that the moon is at the feet of Virgo. The sun was in
the midst of Virgo’s stars, hence she was “clothed with the sun.” Notice too,
the serpent just a little above her feet. These are both celestial “signs in the
heavens” which aligned with the sun and moon to place a picture in the sky on
the viewing of the new moon from Jerusalem on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish
New year, which was also
14,000 days after Israel took back Jerusalem.
Revelation 12:3-5 And there appeared another wonderG4592
[sign Genesis
1:14] in heavenG3772;
and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and
seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the
stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before
the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon
as it was born. And she brought
forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her
child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
In the Book of Revelation there are several monsters or dragons described.
The Greek New Testament uses drakon 12 times only in the book of
Revelation which the KJV translates as “dragon” (Revelation 12-13,
16:13, 20:2).
There is an interesting book recently published by Fortress press entitled Social-Science Commentary on the Book of Revelation by Bruce Malina and
John Pilch that relates much of the vivid description in Revelation to
constellations in the sky. They believe that the Book of Revelation is an
astral prophecy.
Social-Science Commentary on the Book of Revelation

and John Pilch published by Fortress Press, 2000.

There is a red dragon in Revelation 12:1-18. Boll believes that the dragon
corresponds best with the constellation Hydra which extends through one third
of the zodiac. Just above the Hydra are the constellations Corax with 7 stars
corresponding to 7 heads, and Crater with 10 stars corresponding to 10 horns,
or 10 dorsal fins. Another possibility is the ancient constellation of Scorpio
(Malina and Pilch, 2000 p.165).
Constellations: Serpens in red, Corona in orange, Virgo
in blue, and Hercules in black.

On today’s star charts I think the dragon (which means serpent) should be
identified with the constellation Serpens (Caput and Cauda connected with ten
stars). The seven heads would be the constellation Corona (crown) Borealis
which consists of 7 stars. This serpent is right at the feet of the
constellation Virgo and Hercules. The Archangel Michael would be the
constellation Hercules waiting to make war with the serpent (Revelation 12:7).
Constellations outlined: Serpens in black with red stars,
Corona in purple with orange stars, Virgo in purple with blue stars, and
Hercules in red with black stars.

The woman of
Revelation 12 should be identified with the constellation
Virgo. The woman is Mary who gives birth to Jesus. The 12 stars represents the
12 tribes of Israel. The 13 stars of the constellation Virgo may represent the
12 tribes plus Christ (the bright star Spica?). Another possibility is that
the constellation Bootes represents the baby Jesus, and Mary’s crown is the
Big Dipper plus Canes Venatici.
I don’t think the
Bible specifies the 70th week as being dependent on Satan’s “covenant with
many” as
Daniel 9:27 would seem to suggest. In fact, nowhere is it directly
implied that this seven year period marks the final 70th week of Daniel. It
is also the only scripture I’m aware of that would even address this final
seven year period of time. I think it’s actually dependent on God’s feasts that He set up
and planned in the stars from the beginning of creation. I address this in
more detail
here.
Notice how it is
the position of the celestial bodies in the heavens that marks out the
feasts. The final
70th week
of Daniel is God dealing with Israel as a nation again after almost
2,000 years of
Israel being blinded for not recognizing Him (Luke 19:41-44) as fulfilling the first 69
weeks of
Daniel’s prophecy
marked at the beginning by the order to rebuild Jerusalem
March 16, 445 BC
to the triumphal entry April 6, 32 AD, or 173,880 days to the day!
The facts on that are in the 70 weeks of Daniel study.
I believe God is just as precise about the final week. I think God starts
that with the Jewish “head of the year” also known as the feast of trumpets,
which is the Jewish feast of Rosh
Hashanah. This is the first of three final
fall feasts that have
fulfillments in the second coming of Christ! Even more incredibly is how on October 5, 2005, the constellation
of Virgo the virgin had the new moon, which marks the actual time of Rosh
Hashanah, under her feet literally in the heavens as viewed from Jerusalem! She was clothed in the
sun. This all sounds very similar to Revelation 12:1,2 and the description
of the woman that bore the man-child who would rule with a rod of iron. It
just so happens that the literal woman that bore this man-child was a virgin
as prophesied in the stars and also came through Israel, who is described in
the same manner in one of Joseph’s dreams in
Genesis 37:9-11.
If you haven’t done a
study on the Hebrew Mazzeroth, I would recommend downloading this
$7.95 2-hour mp3 from Chuck Missler on it.
Basically, all the 12 constellations are named in Hebrew with the stars that
make them up also named. We don’t know all the names, but their identities
have remained the same through all the copies and imitations of it so
we know some of them. Basically the constellations
start with Virgo the virgin and end with Leo the lion according to the
prophetic calendar year. This all foretells
of Christ, born of a virgin, the lion of the tribe of Judah, who will return
in glory and rule with a rod of iron! All twelve constellations tell some
part of the story of Christ. This all fits so nicely with God
starting the 70th week of Daniel again. Revelation 12 is all about Israel,
the Messiah born from her,
and her relationship with Satan who has been after her from the beginning.
That’s why I call anti-Semitism Satanic, because hatred of a people based
solely on the fact that they are Jewish and believe in a Jewish God is
exactly what Satan is all about. We see it played out in
Revelation 12. So what is the
seven-year covenant that
Daniel 9:27 talks about?
According to Daniel 9:27,
this is the
antichrist’s covenant with many. Does it define the
beginning point of God’s dealing with Israel? Why would God time it on this?
Maybe because that’s when Israel needs Him the most? Daniel 9:27 is the only
mention of the final 70th week we have as far as declaring the seven year
period and marking the middle with the abomination of desolation. I have a
hard time thinking that God didn’t already have this all planned out in
spite of Satan’s plans, not because of them. It’s written in the stars! Do
you realize what that means? The whole universe is
in a drawn out motion. So slow compared to each other, that it’s almost
imperceptible to us. In fact, the constellations have remained almost
identical throughout human history. However, the more you zoom into our galaxy and
our solar system, the faster the motion gets because the distance between
celestial bodies is not as vast. What we call time is marked and measured
out by the motion of these celestial bodies.
Genesis 1:14-19 That means our dates are
controlled by them. By the moon, sun, and constellations being lined up at
this precise time
14,000 days after the Jews took back Jerusalem and the temple
mount is a little too much coincidence for me to say is chance. Especially
when what happened on Rosh Hashanah in the heavens on October 5, 2005 is
taken into account! How this plays
into our time now
So
when I’m faced with these two possibilities, Satan’s control or God’s, when
God’s is evident in such a pre-determined way, I’m forced to examine deeper
how
Herb Peter’s research on the
European
Union and
Javier Solana merge with the glaring
sign in the heavens discussed above. This chart below is the
result of the background information I’ve tried to explain above mixing with
the clear signs here on the earth that the
EU and
Solana sure fit the bill.
I think Satan’s covenant (Daniel 9:27) has no basis for being completed. If he’s the
father of lies and doesn’t care about any of us, then it would be fitting
that his covenant would never be finished while God’s would. I think that’s
part of what happens when Christ returns in glory and destroys the beast and
false prophet and later locking Satan in the bottomless pit.
The End of the 70th Week
If Rosh Hashanah is the start of the 70th week of Daniel, and it is 7 years
long, we should expect that the 2520 days would end on Rosh Hashanah. In fact,
with a start date of October 5, 2005 and adding 2520 days, we get
August 29, 2012. In reality, Rosh Hashanah falls on
September 17,
2012. That is a difference of 19 days. This means that the 70th
week in prophetic days ends 19 days before the Jewish festival marking that
new year with the new moon.
This is supposed to occur on
September 16, 2012.
August 31, 2012 is the full moon.
In possible relation to the number 19,
the metatonic or “golden number” cycle is the 19 year cycle of the lunar
phases and days of the year. Could that be why the prophetic
360-day-year would end the 70th week 19 days ahead of the actual lunar phase
(new moon) at the end of this seven year period? Perhaps a day-per-year
relationship? I really don’t know much about these things, so it will need
more research.
Metatonic Cycle Study - Is there any validity to the metatonic cycle
and the adding of one month to the 70th week of Daniel?
Is the “last trump” directly associated
with Rosh Hashanah?
This view posits that the harpazo is on
Rosh Hashanah, and therefore, the gathering of the bride of Christ to Christ
in the clouds occurs of the “Feast of Trumpets,” Rosh Hashanah.
“The Last Trump vs. The Great Trump”
by Eddie ChumneyThe three great trumpets (shofarim) that mark major
events in the redemptive plan of God are associated with days in the
Biblical calendar. The first trump was associated with and was
seen as being blown by God on the feast of Shavuot (Pentecost) when God
gave the Torah at Mount Sinai (Exodus
19:18-19).
In his book, “Festivals of the Jewish Year” in the chapter on Rosh
Hashanah, the Orthodox Jewish author (not a believer in Yeshua/Jesus as
Messiah) will tell you that an idiom for Rosh Hashanah is the last
trump. Therefore because the Last Trump is a
Jewish idiom for Rosh Hashanah, the Apostle Paul, when referring to the
resurrection of the dead happening at the “last trump,” was using a Jewish
idiom for the feast of Rosh Hashanah and indicating that the resurrection
of the dead and the catching away of believers will take place on Rosh
Hashanah.
Rosh Hashanah is
dictated by the viewing of the new moon from Jerusalem, and that the
sun, moon, and stars are for marking of time. Genesis 1:14 Therefore, if we don’t know the feast’s arrival without the precision
of the celestial bodies, then it would more accurately be associated
with marking the new year. It is the
Jewish “head of the year.”
Also, who are the last days focused
on in much of scripture? Israel. She is the
woman of Revelation 12 as well as the 144,000. Indeed, the
70th week of Daniel is
specifically focused on God’s dealing with Israel as a nation for the
final seven years of history before Christ’s return to rule for 1,000
years. It was given to Daniel and his people and Jerusalem. If the final three feasts are to be fulfilled in this time-frame,
then what might they be foreshadows of? Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New
Year. As we’ve seen, it is also the month of Virgo, who represents the
virgin birth of the Messiah, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Leo. This
marks the prophetic new year, marking the story of Christ in the heavens
from before we existed from the virgin birth of Christ through Mary and
through Israel, until the Lion of the Tribe of Judah returns in glory,
victoriously ruling as prophesied.
The harpazo of the bride of Christ
is an event of unknown timing.
Matthew 24:36 Saying that Rosh Hashanah, which marks
precise time based on the celestial bodies, is connected to this day and
hour we don’t know doesn’t quite fit either. He goes on to talk about
the “great trump” being blown on Yom Kippur. I’m continuing study of
this.
The third significant shofar in the redemptive plan
of God is called the Great Trump. The Great Trump is associated
with and is blown on Yom Kippur. Therefore, when Scripture
explains that the Great Trump will sound and the elect will be gathered at
this time, it is indicating that this very different event from the
resurrection/harpazo will take place on Yom Kippur.

Mount of Olives earthquake on October 3, 2005 (October
3, 2005) - by Arni and Yonit Klein
www.emmausway.org: There is
nothing quite like hearing the voice of the Lord. When God speaks, your whole
body quakes. That was our opening sentence yesterday. This morning (October 3)
at 7 AM, on the eve of the Feast of Trumpets, north of the Salt Sea near
Jericho, there was a 4.0 earthquake. Sitting in my morning chair, 700 meters
above sea level, I felt the shaking continue for about 15 seconds. Only later
did I relate the event to the current feast. If we took it as a sign from the
Lord, what might He be saying? It is a season of shaking from the foundations
of the earth. The shaking will go out from the point of origin and be felt at
great distances. The shaking is not yet so severe. The voice of the Lord is
audible but not yet booming. So we wish you a meaningful and blessed Feast of
Trumpets.

Another
earthquake in Israel 10-3-05.
The second earthquake in less than 30 days has hit Israel today, both in the
Jordan Valley just north of Jericho, but what I find most interesting it is
where the branch comes off the Syrian-African rift that runs from Syria
through Lebanon, Israel and Jordan and down into Africa where it runs up to
Jerusalem through the Mount of Olives. They were both registered at 4.3 not
large, but large enough to be felt by a lot of us, what makes it important
is they have come so close together. An
article I wrote a couple years ago will explain why I think it’s important.
