Daniel's constant reliance on God and prayer (communication) with Him is one reason why God so favored Daniel. Just as in any friendship, if there is no communication, the friendship fades away as we see less and less of them. So too, when we turn from God to our own desires and aspirations, does our distance from Him become greater. Like the story of the prodigal son, however, God is always waiting for us to return to Him and His ways. There are many with a void in them they try to fill with other things, but they never fill this void with the things of this world. Some expect other people to fill it, but they never can. It is a void not of this realm, yet connected to it, it's custom-made for God to fill. So as we study God's plan for our future, let us remember the most important thing for us to do with our lives is have a personal relationship with Yeshua the Christ. Just be sure you are communicating for the right reasons. Matthew 6:1-21

Lord, we come before you in awe that you would die for all mankind so that we could come before you right now and thank you for your Holy Spirit. May You guide us as we study Your Word in accordance with Your Word.

Lord, we thank you for Your Word that guides us to a better understanding of You and Your will and desires for us. We thank you for Your servants the prophets, who received this knowledge from You and for the ones through the millennia who kept your Word and spread it to made sure we could read it now. Please open our eyes and hearts and loose our predispositions to accept Your Word for what it says and define our foundation by that Word alone. Your kingdom come and Your will be done. Amen.

Before beginning the study of Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy, let's start at the time you will most identify with, now. What exactly are we looking for to understand the times in which we live? We have signs written for us in scripture quoting Yeshua to tell us what they will be like. The Olivet discourse is our overall picture of the transition into the day of the Lord given to us by Christ Himself. So since our study is focused around Bible prophecy, to examine the 70 weeks of Daniel, we must start with what Christ describes as the signs of the end-times. This section is color-coded to help show the relationships.

Matthew 24:3-42
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Maroon is before the great tribulation

Blue is the great tribulation. It goes until the sixth seal (See great tribulation definition | Daniel 12:1 | Jeremiah 30:7 | Zechariah 13:8,9)

Purple is the sixth seal (Revelation 6:12-17)

God's Wrath poured out on the children of disobedience (Isaiah 13:10-13 | Ephesians 5:1-6)

Green is Christ's second coming in glory to the earth (Revelation 19:11-21)

Black is the warning to believers in God of what the beginning of this time will be like (the majority won't be expecting it but we are told to watch for it. We're also told that Christ appears to those looking for Him when He comes the second time. The bold section is the harpazo which is found also in Luke 17:24-37, the only other place like this in scripture. [Hebrews 9:28])

As we can see in Yeshua's explanation, the key to understanding the great tribulation comes from the Old Testament. So now we jump to the book of Daniel for understanding of the abomination of desolation. Daniel 12:11 gives us an exact-day prophecy connected to this time, but we'll get into that a little later once there is more background covered. What we'll focus on here are only four verses to the prophecy Gabriel gave Daniel about Israel's future, but they provide a lot of detail with some searching of scripture. The scripture of discussion here is Daniel 9:24-27, the 70 Weeks of Daniel.

I should also clarify who I will be referring to as Israel in this study and others. National Israel is temporal and is made up of both just and unjust Jews only. They are the "natural branches" spoken of in Romans 11. They are the literal seed of Abraham of which the majority currently live in apostasy from God through their rejection of the Meshiach Nagid, Yeshua the Christ. This is because they have been blinded by Christ until the fullness of the Gentiles. Luke 19:41-44 | Romans 11:25

Bible prophecy, for the most part, is telling us what is going to happen during the end-times on this earth. These prophesies are focused on an Israel living apart from the Lord and is the story of God's bringing her back to Him. If Bible prophecy is talking of Israel as unrepentant or the like, then it means that prophecy is not speaking of the eternal Israel of which there are no unjust.

Also, the prophesies were given at a time when no Christian church existed to a people of a specific lineage. Regardless of what happened after, that prophecy is for that same people defined by their lineage. Yes, we are fellowheirs through Christ and part of eternal Israel, but we are also not a natural branch, nor can we ever be because God delineated an eternal difference for us by calling us wild branches and Israel natural branches. That is our natural bodies and what are spoken of in Bible prophecy. Our spirits, when aligned with God's ways, are all the same. We are the image of our Father, Love. Love has no genetic lineage, we either embrace it or we reject it. Loving God and loving our neighbors as ourselves are God's ways.

But speaking in material terms, Gentiles will always be the wild branch that is grafted onto the root, Christ. The fact that this difference is made clear should tell us that lineage does still matter in Bible prophecy. Romans 11 So when Israel is referred to in the 144,000 getting the seal of God, it is literally the 12 tribes of Israel, 12,000 from each tribe. That distinction is straight from the Holy Bible. Revelation 7:1-8 Likewise, when Old Testament prophets foretold the time of the end when Israel would suffer a time unparalleled in history, the time of Jacob's trouble, it was referring to national Israel living in Judea. I take the Bible literally, and it talks about the nation of Israel experiencing these things and God refining the remnant of them through fire to the point when they call Him their God and He calls them His people. Zechariah 13:8,9

God is not done with Israel, that's what the study of the 70 weeks is all about. As you will see, this prophecy was given before the church existed and was given by God to the nation of Israel through Gabriel and Daniel to tell Israel's future. As Gentile believers read these Jewish prophecies, we can see how they apply to Israel and how Israel is God's prophetic timepiece for us to understand the times in which we are blessed to live in! I hope this study builds your faith in God's Word and brings to light the clarity in His Word. I pray furthermore that your relationship with Christ blossom as the bride awakens and trims her lamps!

The 70 Weeks of Daniel: The First 69 Weeks

There are four verses to the prophecy of Daniel's 70 weeks. These 70 weeks are the future of the nation of Israel as given to Daniel by Gabriel from God. I will go over each verse separately because of the detail each one holds and how that's connected to the overall study. I was amazed when I saw the depth and detail that was covered in just these four verses! This section will cover just the first three verses. Since the Daniel 9:27 is connected to current times, that will be separated and gone over later on this page.

Daniel 9:24
Seventy weeks [H7620 a week (specifically of years)] are determined upon thy people [Daniel's people, national Israel] and upon thy holy city [Jerusalem], to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

This passage is split into two parts. The first identifies the subject of the passage, Israel. The second identifies the conditions that all must be met before the end of this prophesied time and is detailed more on the Daniel 9:24 definitions page, which shows the scope of this prophecy. What prompted this prophecy?

Daniel 9:1-3
In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans; In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

Why was Israel in captivity? Because they did not obey God's command to let the ground lie fallow every seven years. (Sabbath for the land - Leviticus 25:1-9)

Jeremiah 29:10-14
For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, [Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy] and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

I think it's important to understand and recognize that it was Daniel's literal reading of the prophecy of Jeremiah that caused him pray asking God to reveal his nation's future and ultimately brought this prophecy. An Old Testament prophet took another prophet's prophecy literally... We should hold ourselves to the same standards, believing God means what He says and says what He means, taking Him at His Word.

God never left Israel in the dark about her future. Amos 3:7 (God hasn't left those who believe in Christ in the dark either, which is why you're reading these scriptures now. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11) He told Jeremiah exactly how long Israel would be in Babylonian captivity and why. Daniel recognized this time was almost up and so requested of God to know Israel's future from that point. That is what Daniel's 70 week prophecy gave the people of Israel, their future history until the end of time up to the millennium (Christ's reign on earth). There is a gap, but I'll get into that in detail coming up. For those with anti-gap leanings, please don't let that prevent you from reading further.

Once again, an important point to remember here is at the time of this prophecy, there was no church. This prophecy is for Israel and is clearly stated as such. Not only that, but it specifically identifies Jerusalem and clearly lays out a list of things that must be completed within this 70 weeks of years timeframe. These aren't all completed yet. This is a Jewish prophecy and it is not completed yet. That means that Israel is still part of God's plan in these times as evidenced by her amazing existence amongst the millions of enemies and surrounding hostile nations since 1948.

This next passage gives us the timing and length of the first 69 weeks of Daniel's prophecy:

Daniel 9:25
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [Meshiach Nagid] shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

7 + threescore (3 x 20 = 60) + 2 = 69
69 weeks (of years) = 483 years (360 day years) = 173,880 days

From: The commandment to restore and build Jerusalem was given by Artaxerxes Longimanus on March 16, 445 BC (Sir Robert Anderson: The Coming Prince adjusted days see below) Nehemiah 2:1-8

Source: "The exact date of this event was given as being in the month of Nisan in the 20th year of Artaxerxes' reign. When the day of the month is not given in Jewish chronologies, then it can be assumed that the first day is meant. The 1st of Nisan, in the 20th year of King Artaxerxes of Babylon corresponds to March 16, 445 BC. Sixty-nine weeks, or 483 years later, the Messiah would come."

Unto: Yeshua had an enthused crowd that would have called Him King, John 6:14-15, but it was not under the timing of the prophecy given to Daniel. Then, at what we now call the triumphal entry, He meticulously arranges it. Luke 19:28-40

1 Chronicles 11:1,2 shows the differences between King^H4428, as in royalty, and Prince [Nagid], or ruler^H5057, which is based in the idea of announcing.

From the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the triumphal entry is the span of this verse.

March 16, 445 BC + 173,880 days (360 day years and correcting for leap years) = April 6, 32 AD (Start of Christ's ministry- Luke 3:1-4: Tiberias was appointed in 14 AD, so the 15th year of his reign is 29 AD Christ's ministry was from then until the 4th Passover, which occurred in 32 AD) Chuck Missler | Biblical foundation for the years of the beginning and end of the 69 weeks

Excerpt: Evidence that Supports Jesus' Crucifixion Occurred on April 11, AD 32 Based on the Elephantine Papyri

Sir Robert Anderson provided a good foundation that pointed to the crucifixion occurring on April 11, AD 32. His viewpoint was originally given in the book, "The Coming Prince" that was published about 1884. Sir Robert Anderson did not have the Elephantine papyri to use in his research. However, an in-depth study of the Elephantine papyri provides evidence that supports Sir Robert Anderson's viewpoint. And it is important to note that this is true despite recent problems found with Sir Robert Anderson's original work. Sir Robert Anderson's viewpoint recently was found to be faulty due to missing 3 full days. According to Anderson's calculations, the decree to rebuild and restore Jerusalem as recorded in Nehemiah 2:1-6 came from King Artaxerxes on Nisan 1, which was thought to have occurred on Friday, March 14, 445 BC. By adding 173,880 days to this date, we are taken forward in time to April 6, AD 32, which is thought to be the date on which Jesus rode into Jerusalem with crowds proclaiming him to be the Messiah. (The 173,880 days are based on Daniel's prophecy that foretells of a period of 69 cycles of 7 years. When the time frame of 360 days per year are used, the value evolved comes from attaining the number of days by multiplying 69 x 7 x 360 = 173,880 days). To resolve the issue of the 3 missing days, the solution would be to simply move the date for Nisan 1 forward to Sunday, March 16, 445 BC. By doing this, the 173,880 days fit perfectly to April 6, AD 32. But is it realistic to move the date for Nisan 1 forward to Sunday, March 16, 445 BC? The Elephantine papyrus dated November 18, 446 BC gives supporting evidence that the decree issued by King Artaxerxes to restore and rebuild Jerusalem most likely did occur on March 16, 445 BC. In addition, the book of Nehemiah offers more evidence that the decree would have occurred on Sunday (not on the Sabbath). Now consider the scientifically dated papyrus dated to November 18, 446 BC. This date happens to be Kislev 2 in the Hebrew calendar. By adding the appointed days of each month, the earliest date for Nisan 1 would be Saturday, March 15, 445 BC, at 6:00 PM. Based on this logic, it is very probable that Nisan 1 began at Sundown on Saturday, March 15 and came to an end at 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 16, 445 BC. more on original page

It's interesting also that the triumphal entry is when Israel was blinded. Luke 19:41-44 They were blinded until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. Romans 11 | 2 Corinthians 3:12-16 | John 12:37-50 I believe the fullness of the Gentiles is like a cup. There's a certain point where the cup is as full as it will get. At that point the blindness God gave Israel will be lifted. Romans 11:7-11 What's even more amazing is that the triumphal entry was also the day when Christ blinded Israel and prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem because Israel didn't recognize the very day of their Messiah presenting Himself. Luke 19:41-44 It came to pass exactly 14,000 days after He prophesied it. There are two other periods of 14,000 days in history that represent a generation. We'll get more into how this all ties together later. But let's finish the 70 weeks study first. Praise God that His Word is true! Amos 3:7

In the next verse, we see the gap introduced and the connection of Christ's crucifixion and the prophesied destruction at the triumphal entry.

Daniel 9:26
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

7 weeks (rebuilding temple and city of Jerusalem) + 62 weeks = 69 weeks (the time from the order to rebuild until the triumphal entry, the first and only time that Yeshua declared His kingship, to the day as prophesied.)

So what this is saying is after the 69 weeks (483 years) is accomplished, the Messiah would be killed, not for Himself. Christ died on the cross for your sins because He had no sin, He did not deserve to die. Yet He gave Himself freely because greater love has no man than he would give his life for a friend. We are His friends, if we obey Him. John 15:12-16 He asks us to love Him and love each other. That is His way.

The triumphal entry was the end of the 69th week. Christ was crucified on Passover, April 10, 32 AD, four days after the triumphal entry. However, all of verse 24 was not fulfilled 7 years after the triumphal entry. That tells us several things when we put it together.

The 69 and 70th weeks of prophecy are not consecutive (there's a gap of time implied)

Christ's crucifixion was outside the scope of Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy (It's 5 days after the end of the 69th week)

"The people of the prince"

We know who the people are because of our perspective in time. We know the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in 70 AD. Who is the prince? According to scripture, he wasn't there. The Bible says "the people of the prince that shall come..." This indicates he was not yet there in 70 AD. The people of this prince attack the Jews, Jerusalem, and their temple, but the prince is not yet there. Is this an allusion to the revived Roman Empire of the end times headed by the prince (antichrist) yet to come? I believe it is. Verse 27 addresses "the prince that shall come."

There is further detail from scripture about the Romans destroying Jerusalem and taking the temple apart until no stone was left on top of another just as Christ said in Luke 19:41-44. He prophesied this again after the triumphal entry when telling the disciples of the things that would lead to His coming again and the end of the world.

Luke 21:12-24
But before all these, [This passage occurs, in history, before the things mentioned just prior, which are supposed to happen yet future.] they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls. And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof [of Jerusalem] is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Notice that when they see the armies surrounding Jerusalem, they should expect that the desolation of Jerusalem is near. The abomination of desolation doesn't lead to the destruction of Jerusalem, just the destruction of the Israelites during the time of Jacob's trouble, which is the start of the great tribulation. Notice also that unlike Matthew and Mark's accounts, Luke 21:12-24 does not mention the abomination of desolation and it is pointed out that it is before the things commonly known to happen in the end-times. Read all of Luke 21 in order all the way through. Verse 12 comes after a list of end-time signs given by Christ. Verse 12 then says "before all these" indicating that from that point, we are at a point before the signs of the end-times. This is talking about the desolation of Jerusalem in 70 AD, not the abomination that makes desolate standing in the temple where he [antichrist] ought not. This is explained through comparison of scriptures on the Olivet Discourse page. This passage in Luke 21 is covering the time from Christ's death to 70 AD

The Gap

Many claim that the Bible doesn't say anything about a gap in the prophecy, but the gap is there by implication. Israel is the apple [lens] of God's eye (Zechariah 2:8,9 | Deuteronomy 32:8-10 | Lamentations 2:18) and the list of things that must happen within these 70 weeks have not all happened yet. The fact that God's prophecy of bringing Israel back into the land is fulfilled after thousands of years should be testament enough that God isn't done with Israel. Ezekiel 36 We won't rely on our own understanding, but the Word of God.

Isaiah 61:1,2
The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, [2,000 year gap] and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

Jesus confirms this by quoting that passage, and stopping in mid sentence, where the 2,000 year gap occurs, and closes the book saying, "This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears." He stops because "the day of vengeance of our God" is after the great tribulation, the day of the Lord, which has not happened yet. Check it out:

Luke 4:18-21
The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

We also have evidence of this 2,000 year gap from Daniel too. Notice that verse 25 gives us a start and end point. From the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the triumphal entry. Verse 26 occurs between the 69th and 70th week of Daniel. Therefore, the 70th week is separate from the first 69. It is in this gap (whose ultimate time is not given), that we see Christ crucified and Jerusalem destroyed. That was 14,000 days after the triumphal entry.

Between the 69th & 70th weeks

Now that we've gone over the history and God's precision in this same prophecy in the past, let's examine the future and apply that same precision from scripture to the future aspect of this prophecy, the 70th week. Before we dig in directly, let's get an idea of how Daniel's prophecy was laid out in conjunction with history as it has happened and possibly will happen through this chart.

Notice how the 69 weeks ended at the triumphal entry when Christ blinded Israel. I believe that is what this gap between the 69 and 70th weeks represents. God blinded Israel, so clearly He wasn't dealing with them as a nation because they were prevented from understanding the truth in Christ as a people. Some Jews have come to know Christ, so it's on a personal level and God knows who are His. But as a nation, Israel's been blinded since 32 AD. It isn't until the 70th week that God begins to come back and deal with Israel as a nation. They will still remain blinded until the fullness of the Gentiles. Romans 11:25

70th Week of Daniel According to Scripture

This brings us to the modern day world and the fulfillment of thousand-year old prophecies! What an exciting time to be alive. We should give thanks to God for this great opportunity and honor to get to learn and see His glory declared throughout all the unsuspecting world. We get to declare His glory!

Daniel 9:27
And he [the prince that shall come] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Who is "he?" Continuing from the previous verse, it seems to be speaking of the leader, or prince, of the "people of the prince that shall come." We know the people were Roman soldiers, and the times of the Gentiles isn't completed yet, so there is a link between the head of Rome (that can survive over thousands of years) and this prince. If we extrapolate who this would be, it is the antichrist, who is the head of the revived Roman Empire. There is some debate over this subject, so I'd like to point it out in color code for easier understanding.

Daniel 9:26,27
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

We have two "he's" here, Christ in red and antichrist in green.

They are both named in the beginning, then the rest of the references to a specific character are in the form of "he." Who was the last "he" mentioned? If God is not the author of confusion, then who would all the generic "he's" be referring to? I think clearly the last noun mentioned, the future prince of the Romans who sacked Jerusalem, the antichrist and the beast of Revelation 13.

So the antichrist confirms a covenant with many for 7 years. (one week) Who are the many? I would venture to guess that it is saying that there will be a uniting covenant that will be signed amongst many peoples.

In the midst of the week he [antichrist] shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. In order to stop the sacrifice and the oblation (a term that Jews know well for the daily temple sacrifices), it must have started again. I'm guessing that it is part of the covenant with many that enables the Jews to rebuild the temple in order to carry out the sacrifices again. I think that Satan would be obliged to help (Temporary peace deals with Muslim nations with a promise of later retribution) because he gets to cause the abomination of desolation and he likes thumbing his nose at God and the Jews and Christians it would seem. We could also see it come about because of the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38 & 39, the invasion of Gog/Magog that is supernaturally stopped in the mountains of Israel by God Himself. The news is building to just that.

So the antichrist overspreads the abominations...

2 Thessalonians 2:1-5
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

He does this until the (fulfillment, goal, or end of prophecy?) "and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." Daniel 9:27 That sounds like the language of God's wrath being poured out on the dwellers of the world. However, as Christians we have the blessed hope, which is our gathering to Christ before His wrath is poured out.

I would like to point out as well that there is no direct connection to the antichrist's covenant coinciding with the starting of the last 7 years of history where God deals with Israel as a nation again. I also have no reason to believe that the 70th week is marked by the antichrist's covenant with many either. I believe the 70th week of Daniel begins on God's timing and is indeed even written in the stars as a sign.

Is the 70th Week's Beginning Determined by Satan's Plan or God's Plan?

There is a question which arises with the information presented, "Wouldn't the 70th week of Daniel start with the confirmed covenant with many?"

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

I believe the "he" in verse 27 is the antichrist/man of sin/beast. I believe this because the last person being spoken of was the future prince of the Romans who destroyed the temple in 70 AD. This fits with the Daniel 2 prophecy that shows iron legs as the Roman empire and then the last kingdom was iron mixed with clay. It is composed of the same metal whereas all previous transitions were to a completely different metal. This end-times kingdom is comprised of the same iron as the legs, but is mixed with miry clay so that it is partly strong but partly weak.

At any rate, we know the Romans destroyed the temple in 70 AD and verse 26, so their future prince should arise in the end times to be the beast ruling the iron mixed with clay empire. I believe Herb L. Peters has nailed it as far as who this iron/clay last-days kingdom is, the European Union.

The antichrist confirms a covenant with many for one week. But is that week the beginning of the 70th week? Or is that week-long covenant made for seven years independent of the starting and ending of the 70th week of Daniel? I'll try and explain better... I see it two ways, either the 70th week of Daniel's beginning and end is based on God's plans for Israel or Satan's plans.
God's Plan (The 70th Week)
God's plan was written in the orbits of the universe from when they were created till now, almost 6,000 years later. Our dating is based on the movement of these bodies in space, so clearly the precision of time is only in God's ability. He created them in the heavens as a sign. Genesis 1:14-18 If the first 69 weeks of Daniel were fulfilled so precisely, wouldn't we expect the last week to start with that same precision of orbital mechanics through the millennia? That's what the 14,000 days is. It's based on dates, which are based on the orbits of the solar system. That by itself is incredible to me, however what makes it supernatural is that this very length of time, 14,000 days, was used first in the Bible, to the day, for the wilderness wanderings from Sinai to crossing Jordan and then converged with history the very day Israel gave up control of the Temple Mount to lead us to Rosh Hashanah, 2005! That looks a lot like the precision of the first 69 weeks! And that same 14,000 day length of time follows the end of the 69 weeks. This means that 14,000 days flank both the end of the 69 weeks and the start of the 70th week, completing the prophecy given to Daniel regarding the future of His people, Israel! It's as if God's hand was on Israel strongly during the first 69 weeks, but there was a generation of time where His hand was being lifted. Then in 70 AD, Israel was scattered into all nations at the end of that time. Then, one generation before grabbing hold of Israel again for the 70th week, His hand drew near and gave Israel back Jerusalem and the Temple Mount in 1967, but Israel's faith could not be found in their Lord. They gave up the Temple Mount to Islamic control. Then 14,000 days later was the feast of Trumpets, Rosh Hashanah, the awakening blast. God has since grabbed hold of His chosen people and woe to them who come against Israel! Satan's Plan (The 1st Seal)
The seven year treaty is Satan's plan. He's been working on it for several thousand years. Secret societies teaching dark sentences and rituals invoking spirits. Society has been guided and manipulated so that those who are selfish and willing to take from others will build great earthly wealth and feed off the lower classes. Their hunger for wealth and power open spiritual doors to their mind which influence them as they are puffed up with pride. Remember how Satan tempted Yeshua with all the kingdoms of the world? Luke 4:2-14 How is it Satan's to give if they are not already in his control? These few but powerful elite who enjoy power, control a lot I think and they are directed by their master, Satan. I believe there will be one coming soon who will accept the offer of power and control of the world, and the dragon will give him his power. Revelation 13:1-10

Daniel 8:25
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Revelation 6:1,2
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

I believe this going forth to conquer is to conquer by peace. That is what I believe the first seal is about. I believe the Alliance of Civilizations will be what will become this conquering by peace, which is going after religious fundamentalism. I believe Daniel 8:25 is referring to Antiochus IV Epiphanes, but being a type of antichrist with the spirit of antichrist he will go forth with that same spirit. There's nothing new under the sun.
Convergence?
I think what Herb L. Peters has been presenting fits very snugly in what I found when I combined the 14,000 days and the exact day prophecies from Daniel and John. It's Satan's reaction to God's clock starting again. Exactly 14,000 days from their rejection of God's provision in giving them back the temple mount and Jerusalem, God's clock for Israel turned on again. One generation after rejecting God's gift through lack of faith, a new generation takes lead over Israel. Now, after God starts the clock, the long-time leader Sharon is removed from power in early 2006. What's happening in the Middle East fits right in with the timeline too. I really believe we're building up to the end right now. If so, we can expect to see the temple going up soon, perhaps within a year or less. If it does, then that means we've been in the 70th week of Daniel since Rosh Hoshanah last year! Prophecy is pretty quiet about the first half of the 70th week, it's the last half when all hell breaks loose, literally.

Here's a chart I drew up to show the relationship between this convergence of 14,000 days/exact day prophecies and the ENPI that Herb has diligently made us aware of. Notice the exact number of days from the confirming of the covenant till the abomination of desolation! What better number to represent the rebuilding of God's temple. It is a representation of the temple in heaven and it's being built because God's people are recognizing they need Him to come. Not only that, but as we've seen already, the timing is all in God's control. If there's any time that should get 777 days, it would be the time before His temple is desecrated by the abomination of desolation.

The 70th Week of Daniel & Convergence With Current News

There is a possible fulfillment right now of Daniel 9:27 with the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) being brought forth by the European Union (EU). It's a 7-year funding instrument with a mid-term review, which is currently having the effect of bringing people to the table to discuss peace in the Middle East. See News and background here. It's being spearheaded by Javier Solana, Secretary-General of the EU. I recommend reading Herb L. Peters free online e-book Recommendation 666. He has been watching the EU for over a decade and studying Bible prophecy. This is another reason why I believe the end-times are now. This fits Bible prophecy AND the timeline I've been researching. Herb explains here.

In Daniel 2, Nebuchadnezzar has a dream of a statue with a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, stomach of brass, legs of iron, and feet/10 toes of iron/miry clay. Babylon was the head, Persia the chest, Greece the belly, and Rome the iron legs. The feet/10 toes are the final kingdom. Notice the legs to the feet are the only kingdom transition which are comprised of the same metal. So too does the EU have 10 voting members. There are more member nations, but they don't have voting rights, and therefore don't have any real power in the EU. These 10 who do have the power have all given their authority to Javier Solana, calling him Mr. Europe. It was EU Recommendation #666 that gave Javier emergency powers. In 1995, the Barcelona Conference took place. Here was the membership of the many nations at that conference:

However, this didn't really accomplish what was hoped it would. That's where the ENP comes into play. In a speech on 'The European Neighborhood Policy and the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership," VP Margot Wallström said:

"As I have tried to point out, the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) does not replace the process launched ten years ago in Barcelona. It renews it, clarifies it and breathes fresh life into it."

This brings us back to scripture to highlight some amazing similarities.

The ENP is a strengthening of the original Euro-Med agreement from 1995, which was among many nations -including Israel. It is meant to bring peace and understanding of different cultures. It is for seven years (January 1, 2007 - December 31, 2013) and has a mid-term review. It has begun to bring many leaders to the table due to it's funding and fear of radical elements of Islam and their destabilizing effects.

Notice how the ENP region on the left looks very similar to the Roman Empire on the right.

The Alliance of Civilizations is the newest addition to the efforts of bringing understanding.

Given all the other fascinating things that are going on right now in the news, I can't just dismiss the "coincidental" nature of what I've just presented to you. I don't believe in coincidence. I believe God has a plan that was known before creation. I believe that was written for us in the Bible by the prophets led by the Holy Spirit and I believe our understanding today is exponentially greater than previous times.

The 70th Week Herb L. Peters (March 3, 2007)

For those having trouble reading the writing, this report spells it out Read about it here. It begins by saying:

Israel is examining the idea of upgrading its relations with the European Union and gaining the status of Norway and Switzerland.

It goes on to talk about the foundational agreement that exists between the many EU nations and the Mediterranean nations -- including Israel. As you may know, I strongly suspect that this 1995 agreement -- known as the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership for Peace, the Barcelona Process, and sometimes just Euromed -- could be the covenant with many that's foretold in Daniel 9:27.

Close ties

The EU-Israel Association Agreement, signed in 1995, included in its preamble a declaration that the European Union, the member states and Israel are interested in promoting the integration of Israel's economy into the European economy.

Interestingly, this agreement with many nations entered into force with Israel while the 10-nation Western European Union was adopting and implementing its Recommendation 666. The report says:

The Agreement underwent a ratification process between 1996-2000, and entered into force in 2000 [It entered into force on June 1. Recommendation 666 was adopted June 5].

Now, as if following the outline of Bible prophecy, we come to a seven-year program that, if you have been following the news, appears to be changing the face of the Middle East and making a lasting and comprehensive peace possible. The report continues:

European Neighbourhood Policy

Monday's EU-Israel bilateral discussions will also focus on the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) framework under which the EU offers its neighbours a privileged relationship that brings advantages to both sides.

The European Commission has proposed to promote the ENP policy in order to strengthen political, trade, economic and human rights agreements between the EU and nearby countries, including Israel.

You see, when the Commission proposed to promote the ENP, it was proposing a new seven-year push to strengthen existing agreements under what's called the "New" ENP. And this "New" ENP began on January 1, 2007. And as I said before, this new push appears to be already baring fruit Read about it here | And here.

So, in this one report, we serious students of Bible prophecy may have all we need to suspect that we could already be in the 70th week of Daniel. And in my opinion, the only arguments that can be raised against this possibility are based either on past speculations, or ignorance of the facts on the ground -- not the Bible.

Does that mean I know for sure we're in the 70th week? Although I believe all the evidence suggests this, I allow room that I could be reading things wrong. However, I know what I see. And so far, what I see matches the prophecy of Daniel's 70th week.

So that explains the scope of Daniel's 70 weeks vision of Israel's future. It also reveals some key points about prophecy and even how we should approach God. Understanding that Israel is the apple [lens] of God's eye, it is His focus in dealing with the world. But Daniel was given much in visions and prophecy from God. The following is an excerpt from the Five Doves website I'm looking over. I found it interesting and possibly relevant to this part of the discussion.

There is something very important to see about the first 3½ years of the Tribulation. The fig tree has always been a symbol of national Israel. At the end of Y’shua’s 3 year ministry, this parable is recorded in:

Luke 13:6-9
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

There are ‘4’ total years mentioned in this parable. The “model” presented here is that if “the fig tree of the nation of Israel ” does not bear fruit in ‘3’ years it is to be cut down in the ‘4th’ year if there is still no fruit after fertilization. Another model is presented in

Leviticus 19:23-25
And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of. But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD withal. And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has an established protocol for the raising of food crops, tree fruits included, that are to be deemed “pure, organic” foods. They require farmers to withhold all pesticides and fertilizers from the designated crops for ‘3’ years, and in the ‘4th’ year, after, the fruit crop can be declared “pure” which allows the special label of “organic” to be applied. In other words, it takes “three and a half years for the fruit to be circumcised” and in the fourth year, it qualifies as a “praise offering withal to the Lord!”
This time, the called-out remnant of the nation of Israel will be subjected to the judgment of “circumcision by travail,” necessitating the undergoing the ‘birth pangs of the Messiah’ for the first 3 ½ years of the Tribulation. By day 1,263.5, all those who humble themselves, repent and turn to Y’shua as their Messiah, who are killed, resurrected and harpazod in the middle of the Tribulation will have become pure and will qualify as fruit, “holy to praise the Lord withal.” The remnant of Israel that remain alive throughout the ‘7’ years of the Tribulation will be gathered, brought to the “border of Israel ,” and will bow down and acknowledge Y’shua as their Messiah and “will mourn over Him who they have pierced.” This group will form another praise offering, “holy to praise the Lord withal,” in another ‘4th year, (from the middle of the Tribulation to the end of the Tribulation) along with the residue of redeemed Gentile survivors of the Tribulation.

I believe at the 3½ year mark, Israel's time of Jacob's trouble will begin for a short time until the woman of Revelation 12 is protected in the wilderness. My view on "the Tribulation" as used above is more focused through the dispensation appointed to Israel in Revelation 12:13-16, Revelation 7:1-8, Zechariah 13:8,9 and Jeremiah 30:4-7 among others. See Great Tribulation for more on my view. I believe the first 3½ years of the "70th week of Daniel", as the author goes on to define, are better left apart from the term "tribulation." I go into why in the overview of the HIStory, Our Future studies.
I believe this 3½ years leading up to the middle of the 70th week of Daniel and the start of the great tribulation are the events we've been seeing in and around Israel with the building conflict over Jerusalem. If these studies linked together indeed point to the Truth, then 2008 will be an earth-shaking year in Israel and resonating throughout the earth. The dragon is about to be cast from heaven and Michael the restrainer standing to do it. Israel will go through the Time of Jacob's Trouble for under a month until removed to the wilderness where the 144,000 of the 12 tribes are sealed to go through the wrath of God on the children of disobedience. Ephesians 5:1-8 We see the destiny of another group in Revelation 7:9-17, the multitudes in heaven standing before the throne and before the Lamb as promised in Luke 21:34-36 before the sudden destruction of the day of the Lord. These believed God and it was counted to them for righteousness. Then we see the beginning of God's wrath in Revelation 8 with the blowing of the trumpets. At this time the war on the saints begins as the dragon goes after the remnant of the woman just taken to the wilderness.

There have been many attempts to build a global consciousness that will accept this man who will declare himself god and make a deal with the dragon. Because of the chaos brought about by religion through history and the threat currently around the globe, the antichrist will conquer by peace and destroy many in the process. The Bible centers that power ultimately from the revived Roman Empire.

Another uniting force today is Global Warming. I believe the cause of what is warming our globe is also responsible for that of Mars and the other planets in addition to the past 100 years of increased solar activity. I believe it was that celestial body that the Mayan's were marking in their calendar ending in 2012 and that celestial body that causes the signs of the sixth seal heralding the sudden destruction of the day of the Lord.

So according to the study above, the bride of Christ will be escaping the wrath to the marriage of the Lamb while Israel will be refined through fire as gold is refined, protected from the antichrist who is controlling the world through technology and global followers zealous for him with his signs and lying wonders. The 12th Mahdi, false prophet, will arise from the earth, the well, and point all worship to the man to whom the dragon gave his power and authority. And so all of Islam will worship the dragon or be beheaded as the pale horse rides after the breaking of the fourth seal. So too will the woman riding the beast point everyone to worship the beast for whom they have been planning for ages. This is the Biblical New World Order, headed by the man of sin and coming soon if this is correct. To quote Illuminati Albert Pike's plans as of 1871:

"The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time."

If you have not yet, I recommend you develop a personal relationship with the only One who will save you from what is about to happen, Yeshua. He is the One of whom the Bible is written and by whom we are saved, the only option IF you desire to be with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If you don't, then upon your rejection of Him, He will reject you. Learn who His Word says He is before you choose though. God gave us free will, it is each our own individual choices.

Now that you have seen the prophesies connected to the timeline of Israel's history and of course secular history, look over the exact day prophecies given to Daniel and John (Revelation). These passages are the source for the development of my framework of the 70th week of Daniel that was created before I did the date studies on the judgments of Israel. It is when I plugged the Rosh Hashanah 2005 date into that framework that the rest of the dates fell into place. (Excluding the day/hour of the harpazo of course. The Seven Feasts:
The first four of the Seven Feasts of Israel have already been fulfilled. They were fulfilled in spectacular fashion. They were fulfilled right on the auspicious Hebrew calendar dates on which they have been celebrated in times past, the same dates that will be celebrated forever more. The three spring feasts were fulfilled by Jesus our Savior. And the summer Feast of Pentecost was fulfilled as well. It was fulfilled by the Holy Spirit 2,000 years ago. Here is the situation so far.

1. Passover                               Fulfilled! (By Jesus/Yeshua in the spring of 32 AD)
2. Feast of Unleavened Bread Fulfilled! (By Jesus/Yeshua in the spring of 32 AD)
3. Feast of Firstfruits               Fulfilled! (By Jesus/Yeshua in the spring of 32 AD)
4. Feast of Pentecost              Fulfilled! (By the Holy Spirit in the Church in the summer of 32 AD)

A gap of 2000 years or so to allow the Light of Israel to go forth to the nations and for the Gentiles to be evangelized. Now here come the Fall Feasts. They are probably just up ahead. As the bride of Christ it seems we have a role to play. We are called to witness the Eternal Covenant. Are we ready? Do we have the oil for the lamps against the coming night?

7. Feast of Tabernacles                           Unfulfilled ....(10/3/09|9/23/10|10/13/11|10/1/12) (All through the millennium, the feast of Tabernacles will be kept by those on the earth. Zechariah 14:16,17 I believe in the new heavens and new earth, it will ultimately be fulfilled when God tabernacles with men. Revelation 21:2,3)

Rosh Hashanah (70th Week of Daniel Begins) (October 5, 2005) - There is a precedent for a period of 14,000 days and incredibly, it marks the exact period of time from the triumphal entry where the Jews were blinded, to the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple on August 5, 70 AD! So for the first time since that time, the Jews had control of Jerusalem and the temple mount. However, on June 7, 1967 the Jews gave up the temple mount that God had just given them in the six-day war. Therefore, I believe that decision may have marked the beginning of a one-generation wait for the promises and the end to be fulfilled. I believe very soon, the temple mount will be handed to them as a peace offering and until the abomination of desolation, Jews will believe that their luck is changing. It seems appropriate to me that the beginning of the 70th week of Daniel would begin at a Jewish feast celebrating the "head of the year," or the "first of the year."

Tu B'Shevat (Abomination of desolation) (February 8, 2009) - Interesting that this would be just over 3 ½ years from the abomination of desolation, February 16, 2009. This will mark a point where the Jews will become aware of the deception of peace shown them in the past few years. Many will probably find the Lord then. The fruit from the fourth year is for the Lord. According to that chart, that means that the fruit produced from these will be perfected after the 70^th week of Daniel was complete. It is like the marker for each year after the planting of the seed. There is about a four-month gap between the marriage supper of the Lamb and the fourth year from the abomination of desolation. And the exact date is disputed. Of course it isn’t in the Torah either so it could just be made up by the Rabbis of old.

Tisha B'Av (2nd Coming of Christ in glory) (July 29-30, 2012) - I find it interesting that the armies would be surrounding Jerusalem preparing for battle on the day that so many tragedies have befallen the Jews. Would this not be the perfect day to call upon the Lord to save you? Isn't that what brings the Lord's glorious return?
