Permafrost melting under N.W.T. roads (June
6, 2005)
- Roads and airstrips across the Western Arctic are sagging,
cracking and washing away as climate change slowly melts the
permafrost beneath them. And as engineers try to adapt
transportation networks and buildings to warmer weather, some say
the consequences of doing nothing are already apparent just a short
drive out of Yellowknife.
- Religious zeal
sets U.S. apart from allies, poll finds (June
6, 2005)
- Religious devotion sets the United States apart from some of
its closest allies. Americans profess unquestioning belief in God
and are far more willing to mix faith and politics than people in
other countries, AP-Ipsos polling found. In Western Europe, where
Pope Benedict XVI complains that growing secularism has left
churches unfilled on Sundays, people are the least devout among the
10 countries surveyed for The Associated Press by Ipsos. Only
Mexicans come close to Americans in embracing faith, the poll found.
But unlike Americans, Mexicans strongly object to clergy lobbying
lawmakers, in line with the nation’s historical opposition to
church influence. more...

Running Dry in Worst Drought for a Century! By
Nick Squires in Goulburn
(June 2, 2005)
- Australian Farmer Tony Morrison inspects an
empty dam on his farm near Goulburn, about 170 km (105 miles)
southwest of Sydney, May 31, 2005. Australia's farmers, battling the
worst drought in a century, received an extra A$250 million ($189
million) in government support on Monday as residents in the
nation's biggest city braced for tougher water restrictions.

Korea says US Stealth bomber move signals nuclear war (June
2, 2005) -North
Korea on Thursday said the deployment of 15 US F-117 Stealth bombers
to South Korea was part of preparations for a preemptive nuclear
strike on the country. The deployment
announced by Washington last week was an unpardonable act, said the
Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, a state
organization in charge of Korean affairs. more...

Link Lost (June 2, 2005)
-CISCO's technical man in Scotland,
Richard Moir, is just back from the European Radio Frequency
Identification Centre at Bracknell with some unsettling news. One of
the largest technology companies in the world has issued a
first-time warning to corporate Scotland - failure to prepare now
for the new era of radio frequency identification (RFID) business
applications will lead to significant losses in productivity and
profit. Mr. Moir points out that while wireless technology may be a
recent phenomenon, in many parts of the world it is fast becoming
standard in terms of usage. RFID tags are tiny intelligent data
storage microchips attached to an antenna that emit a unique serial
number by radio over short distances. Key business applications
range from electronically tagging sensitive documents such as stock
certificates and manuscripts to tracking consumer items like
supermarket shelved products, or even library books. Mr. Moir says
firms need to think about putting in place operational improvements
associated with RFID to drive forward business. "Start thinking
now about the impact of integrating RFID into business model,
networks and technology infrastructures," he says. "Then,
full advantage can be gained of substantial benefits the technology
will undoubtedly bring as it matures." Forrester Research
predicts 42 billion RFID tags will be in use by the end of the
decade, and analysts forecast a 40 per cent compound annual growth
in usage in the commercial supply chain. more...

- Super bug
kills 12 at spinal unit as doctors warn of new threat to NHS (June
6, 2005)
- An outbreak of a lethal new bug at a leading specialist hospital
has claimed 12 lives and is posing a grave new threat to the NHS,
doctors have warned. More than 300 patients have been infected with
the bug, a virulent new strain of Clostridium difficile, at Stoke
Mandeville hospital in Oxfordshire, known for its world-famous
spinal injuries unit supported by the former disc jockey Sir Jimmy
Savile. But all attempts to control the infection, which causes
severe diarrhea that can be life-threatening, have failed. The
disclosure raises new concerns about NHS hygiene following a series
of scares over the super bug MRSA and the pressure on hospitals to
hit waiting list targets.

Broaches Possibility of Israeli Seat on UN Sec. Council (June
4, 2005)
- "The time has come to normalize the status of Israel here in
the United Nations," Shalom told reporters after talks Annan.
"I told him that one way forward to normalize our status here
is by asking to be a member of the Security Council." The UN
has a checkered past regarding Israel, including an infamous 1975
resolution that equated Zionism with racism which was repealed in
the 1990s, but Annan has made a priority of reaching out to Jews
during his tenure. Shalom said the recent election of Israel's UN
Ambassador Dan Gillerman as a vice president of the General Assembly
moved the country toward a "normalization" of relations.
But he said it was time for Israel to seek a seat on the Security
Council. "It is a symbolic move but for us it is a very
important move forward," Shalom said.

- Controlling
the human mind with the help of artificially charged ions and
pulsating electromagnetic waves
IndiaDaily.com
(June 5, 2005)
- It is one of the hottest area of research among the defense
scientists and researchers. It is the area of research that can take
any country in the world hundreds of years ahead of other countries.
It is a technique when mastered can make one win a war without any
fight. It is the science and techniques of controlling and
influencing human minds. Artificial ionization of the immediate
environment and careful algorithmic control of the same can produce
amazing results. But controlling minds of many people and over a
large area can be performed through the use of special types of high
intensity electromagnetic waves pulsing in a specific manner. Pulse
is controlled by the precision computers. more...

- Why
conventional physics fails for time machine design as well as
understanding Extraterrestrial UFOs
IndiaDaily.com
(June 3, 2005)
-Conventional physics
is based on three dimensions and time is perceived as the fourth
dimension. But the problem in trying to traverse time as well as
other higher dimensions of parallel space is that conventional
totally fails to model spatial structures. Scientists and engineers
have finally found a way out from the black old box of physics. The
days of Einstein and Newton were great but they are hundreds of
years old. Their legacy is so great that we physics is stuck at
that. Physics even today cannot see gravity as wave. But scientists
and engineers are finally creating the knowledgebase of the new
multidimensional physics that will solve many issues like
understanding teleport systems, time machines and extraterrestrial
UFOs. The biggest hurdle is that of some budding physicists who just
cannot accept the fact especially in the western nations that
conventional physics is not only old but is also obsolete. more...
Polar
reversal caused the Tsunami IndiaDaily.com
(June 3, 2005)
- Year 2012 will experience something
very unique. The sun will experience a polar reversal and the earth
will also experience a polar reversal. However terrestrial polar
reversal takes a long process and has started already. Polar
reversal is process by which the North and South pole reverses
position. According to a new study, when polar reversal is in early
stage (which is now), the tectonic plates are heavily affected by
the changing electro magnetic fields and the resultant change in
flux characteristics affecting the gravity. During polar reversal
the equilibrium between electromagnetic forces and the gravity of
the earth as well as the other parts of the solar system and the
galaxy is disturbed. The net effect is unpredictable erratic
behavior of the continental and oceanic plates. In the last six
months, three most violent earthquakes happened in the last 150
years. This is accompanied by innumerable small quakes, under water
volcanoes, mudslides and more. Simply put, the tectonic plates are
slowly going out of equilibrium and are showing chaotic effects. The
polar reversal also causes shift in tectonic forces to accelerate.
The pressures built up for many years are some what released through
violent outbreaks with earthquakes and Tsunamis. According to many
scientists and geologists that is exactly what happened in December
2004 and may happen again soon.

Large
underground hideout uncovered in Iraq IndiaDaily.com
(June 5, 2005)
- U.S. Marines and Iraqi soldiers have
uncovered a 503,000-square-foot underground insurgent hideout in
central Iraq containing large stores of weapons, ammunition and
supplies. The bunker -- the size of nine American football fields or
six soccer pitches -- is the largest found in the past year, the
U.S. military said Sunday. No insurgents were in the bunker, but
Marines found fully charged cell phones and fresh food in the
kitchen, said 1st Lt. Kate VandenBossche, a spokeswoman for the 2nd
Marine Division. The bunker, which measured 902 feet (275 meters) by
558 feet (170 meters), also included furnished living spaces, two
showers and an air conditioner, she said. Other rooms contained
machine guns, mortars, rockets, artillery rounds, black uniforms,
ski masks, compasses, log books and night vision goggles, she said.
Marines on patrol found the bunker Thursday north of Karma, near the
city of Falluja. The patrol was looking for weapons caches in Anbar
province when they noticed a lone building in an old rock quarry in
the middle of the desert, VandenBossche said. "In one room
there was a large, chest-style electric freezer," she said.
"The Marines moved it and found the hidden entrance to the
underground quarry system." It is not yet known if the bunker
was built by Saddam Hussein's regime or if the insurgents created it
from the remnants of the quarry. "We don't know how long the
bunker has been in use. We're still exploring the area and notating
everything we find," she said. After Marines search the site,
the weapons and munitions will be destroyed through controlled
detonations, she said. It is one of a dozen weapons caches found in
the area in the past four days, she said. more...
Bush's
3 little words, 1 big betrayal
by Hal Lindsey © 2005 WorldNetDaily.com
(June 2, 2005) - The Israelis
are reeling from the body blow delivered them by President Bush
following his meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. In one
pronouncement, Bush totally scuttled all the hard-fought,
blood-bought gains Israel has made in the three wars forced upon
her. All peace negotiations and concessions by Israel in the pursuit
of peace with the Muslim Nations and Palestinians since 1949 have
been rendered null and void. President Bush's astonishing and
unexpected statement reversed long standing American policy. In his
joint statement with Abbas, he declared that any final status
changes in the peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians
must be mutually agreed to on the basis of the 1949 armistice lines.
To my horror, this statement is the greatest betrayal of Israel
committed by any American president in history. It nearly knocked me
out of my chair when I considered the implications of Bush's
statement. After considering them, I waited for a clarification. I
thought, "Surely this president could not have meant what he
said. It has to be a mistake." I am still waiting, slack-jawed,
for a retraction that evidently isn't forthcoming. more...
