Reports of Over 3,000 Killed by Earthquake in Indonesia
(May
29, 2006)
-
"The area struck by the quake is densely-populated. The Indonesian Red
Cross estimates some 200,000 people fled their homes after it hit early
on Saturday morning."
According to a BBC report, an earthquake measuring
about 6.2, has claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people in Indonesia
on Saturday. The quake hit around 25km (15 miles) south of the city of
Yogyakarta, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The hospitals in the area have been overwhelmed by the
thousands of people injured, and many are feared to be still trapped
under the rubble.
In addition, the quake may have triggered the Mount
Merapi volcano, which is also part of the Pacific "ring of fire." The
report stated, "there was an eruption soon after the quake which sent
debris some 3.5km (2 miles) down its western side."

Iran Seeks Anti-U.S. Axis
Middle East News Line
(May 26, 2006)
- Iran
aims to form an axis of powerful nations against the United States
[U.S.]. Officials said Iran has sought to recruit a coalition that would
oppose U.S. interests in the Middle East and Central Asia. They said the
alliance would include nuclear powers. "China, Russia, India and Iran
are capable of establishing a pole of major powers in Asia, opposing the
policies of America," Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Maj.
Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi said. Addressing the heads of the Basij militia
in Teheran on May 9, Safavi said Iran could forge an international
alliance to foil U.S. interests. The general envisioned a clash of such
an axis with the U.S. and its allies. |

Abbas: Terrorists are "Our Heroes"
By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook
Palestinian Media Watch (May
25, 2006) - Israelis leaders
anxiously look to Mahmoud Abbas [Abu Mazen] as a potential peace
partner, largely because of his moderate statements in English. However,
his Arabic statements continue to show admiration for even the most
depraved terrorists. Likewise, Abbas rejects terror for tactical reasons
only–not because it is immoral. During a television interview this week,
Abbas twice referred to those terrorists serving "tens of life
sentences" in Israeli jails as "our heroes." The terrorists who are
serving "tens of life sentences" are those arch terrorists who have
personally killed tens of Israelis, and are sentenced to one life
sentence for each murder. These are the people whom Mahmoud Abbas calls
"our heroes." In the statement on Palestinian Authority [PA] TV about
the jailed terrorists' recent attempts to bring peace between the Fatah
and Hamas, Mahmoud Abbas expressed his satisfaction with the:
"initiative of our brothers, our jailed heroes, who have presented a
similar initiative [for dialogue]…the initiative proves that these
heroes, who are sentenced to tens of life sentences, feel too that the
homeland is in danger..." [PA TV May 23, 2006] As Palestinian Media
Watch has reported in the past, even in his so-called "condemnations" of
terror attacks, Abbas has always been careful in Arabic not to condemn
terror because it is evil or immoral. He has criticized suicide terror
only because it hurts the PA cause, as he did after the December 2005
suicide attack that killed five in Netanya. Israeli and Western leaders
are so eager to find a viable partner for peace that they often mistake
PA leaders' "lip service" in English as statements of truly peaceful
intentions. But as PMW has reported for the past decade, the only way to
understand these leaders' real opinions is to pay attention to what they
are telling their own people in Arabic. These are the only messages that
count. |

Bush, Britain and the Jews Can [Go] Explode" (May
19, 2006) - The following are excerpts from
a speech by Syrian cleric Sheikh Kuraym Rajeh, which aired on Al-Jazeera
TV on May 14, 2006. *Clip # 1139–Syrian Cleric Kuraym Rajeh in a
Damascus Event in Support of Palestinians: Sheikh Kuraym
Rajeh: “Hamas won [the elections], with Syria standing by it–in front of
it, behind it, to its right, and to its left, and Bush can [go]
explode...Bush can [go] explode, and all of Britain can [go] explode,
along with all its supporters from among the Jews. “The Jews must know
that they will definitely be defeated. The hypocrites should also
know...The leaders who tremble and fear for their thrones must also know
that these thrones will not help them. These thrones will not spare them
anything. This hollow drum will be to no avail on the day the real
drum–the drum of Jihad–is beaten. “This nation must devour these
hypocrites and trample them underfoot.” |

Iran Promises 'Historic Slap' to Any Attacker; has 'Mastered Nuclear
Cycle' (May
25, 2006) - Iran's
hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad boasted Wednesday that the
Islamic republic had mastered the entire nuclear fuel cycle and that it
would give an "historic slap" to any attacker. "Today, Iran has mastered
the entire nuclear fuel cycle, from start to finish, thanks to young
Iranian scientists," the president said in a speech in the southwestern
border town of Khorramshahr. "The enemies are looking to plot and want
to create differences among Iranians to stop us getting our rights,"
Ahmadinejad said. "But if they do the slightest damage to the Iranian
people, if they commit the slightest aggression, they will receive an
historic slap."
The president was speaking during commemorations of the 1982 recapture
from Iraqi forces of Khorramshahr, one of the bloodiest battles of the
1980-88 Iran-Iraq war. |

Bush vows to protect Israel from Iran (May
25, 2006)
- US President George W. Bush has
provided Prime Minister Ehud Olmert with a strong American commitment to
protect Israel in case it is attacked by Iran. In a joint press
conference following their Tuesday White House meeting, Bush said that
"Israel is a close friend and ally of the United States, and in the
event of any attack on Israel, the United States will come to Israel's
aid. "The United States is strongly committed, and I'm strongly
committed, to the security of Israel as a vibrant, Jewish state." When
asked about the options the US sees in dealing with Iran's nuclear
threat, Bush stressed the need for diplomacy and said that efforts are
being made to convince Russia that Iran is "showing no good faith."
Olmert would not go into the details of his conversation with Bush
regarding Iran, but he said after the meeting that what he had heard
from the president "gives me reason to be satisfied." In his speech to
Congress on Wednesday, Olmert said there was no time to wait when
dealing with Iran. He also stressed that the measure for success of the
international community in this issue would be the results, not the
intentions, saying, "If we don't take Iran's bellicose rhetoric
seriously now, we will be forced to take its nuclear aggression
seriously later." |

Abbas gives Hamas 10 days to accept '67 lines (May
25, 2006) -
Referendum to be held in 40 days if deal not reached. In a dramatic
announcement, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday he will
call a national referendum on the parameters of a future Palestinian
state if no agreement is reached with Hamas within 10 days. If the
deadline expires, Abbas said, he would call a referendum within 40 days
on a proposal to accept Palestinian statehood in the West Bank, Gaza and
east Jerusalem. "If you don't reach an agreement within 10 days, I'm
going to present the document to a referendum in 40 days. Within 40 days
I will ask the people," Abbas told a large gathering at his headquarters
in Ramallah. A senior Hamas official said the group accepts the proposal
from Abbas to hold a referendum on accepting a Palestinian state in the
West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem if an agreement between Palestinian
factions is not reached within 10 days. "Returning to the people is one
of the most important principles in democracy," said Abdel Aziz Duaik,
the Hamas speaker of parliament. Abbas said earlier that internal
tensions were jeopardizing their people's aspirations. "This crisis,
everyone is feeling the danger," he said. "Our national plan is in
jeopardy." more... |

U.S., Israel 'in agreement' on Iran (May
25, 2006)
- President Bush and Israeli Prime
Minister Ehud Olmert are in "full agreement" regarding methods to
confront Iran's suspected nuclear program, both leaders said yesterday
at a joint press conference in Washington. But Bush stopped short of
endorsing Olmert's plan to withdraw from most of Judea and Samaria,
which borders Israel's major population centers, downgrading the
proposed evacuation to a "bold [idea]" that "could be an important step"
toward peace. Still, the Israeli media today largely claimed Bush is in
support of the withdrawal. Olmert had sought U.S. recognition for new
borders he wishes to create after implementing his evacuation, and,
according to sources in Olmert's office, had hoped to gain American
financial support for the withdrawal plan. Olmert, speaking to reporters
following his White House meeting with Bush, said he believes Iran will
cross "the technological threshold" on its path to nuclear capability in
about a year. The Israeli leader expressed concern over Iran's nuclear
ambitions, insisting it was not too late to prevent the Islamic
republic's atomic program. more... |

Sources: 'Iran believes Israel to strike within year' (May
24, 2006) - Iran estimates Israel
will strike Tehran's nuclear facilities within a year, and has been
planning retaliatory attacks against Israeli, American and British
interests, according to senior Lebanese political sources. The sources,
speaking to WorldNetDaily on condition of anonymity, said Iran believes
Israel has been practicing raids in Iraq. They said Tehran has held a
series of meetings with leaders of the Hezbollah terror group – based
along Lebanon's border with Israel – about attacking the Jewish state in
the event of any Israeli strike against Iran's nuclear sites. The
sources said while Iran is expecting lone Israeli military action,
Iranian intelligence estimates the Jewish state is coordinating a
planned attack with the U.S. "The Iranians currently are operating under
the working assumption that Israel is going to strike in less than a
year and that this strike is highly coordinated with America," said a
senior Lebanese politician. Lebanese political sources said Iran has
been attempting to organize Shiite tribes in Iraq to stage repeated
large-scale attacks against American and British forces stationed there
during any Israeli strike. They said Iran believes attacks in Iraq,
including hits against soft targets such as oil fields, will prompt a
British or American retreat. The Lebanese sources said Iran claims it
has intelligence information indicating Israel has been carrying out
military exercises related to an attack against it from bases in Kurdish
sections of Iraq. Israeli security officials said the claims are
baseless. more... |

Osama's biographer says nukes in U.S. (May
24, 2006)
- Al-Qaida has smuggled tactical
nuclear weapons and uranium into the U.S. across the Mexican border and
is planning to launch a major terrorist attack using a combination of
nukes and dirty nukes, according to an interview with Osama bin Laden's
biographer, Hamid Mir, in
WorldThreats.com.
The information confirms reports previously published in Joseph Farah's
G2 Bulletin and in a new book by Paul L. Williams, "Dunces of Doomsday."
"I came up with this conclusion after eight years of investigation and
research in the remote mountain areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. I
traveled to Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Syria, Uzbekistan and Russia and met
dozens of people," Mir said. "I interviewed not only al-Qaida operatives
but met scientists and top U.S. officials also. I will have the details
in my coming book. At least two al-Qaida operatives claimed that the
organization smuggled suitcase nukes inside America. But I have no
details on who did it. But I do have details about who smuggled uranium
inside America and how." Mir claims his information is based not only on
what al-Qaida operatives, including bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri,
told him, but also upon his own independent research as a journalist.
Mir says his upcoming book, a biography of bin Laden, will disclose al-Qaida's
nuclear attack plans.

I think there is a plan by
our nation's enemies to attack on several tiers over time. I believe it
is starting subtly with the selling off of America and outsourcing while
allowing incredible amounts of illegal immigration. This will slowly
remove borders and integrate America like Europe has been doing. This
will all lead to a one-world government system like Bush and the others
have been pushing for. With Iran and Russia both opening their own oil
trading not based on the US dollar, it further undermines the U.S.
position in the world financially. This is their desire so that we are
weaker. The nuclear option I believe could very well be in place. With
10,000 illegal immigrants PER DAY (only about 3,000 caught per day)
there's plenty of opportunity to physically get the bombs across. Russia
has the nuclear capability and is well known for selling off their
military hardware, with all the oil money in Muslim extremist hands, I'm
sure a deal has been made behind the scenes. Russia is publicly with
China in support of Iran, or at least not pushing sanctions. Clearly
there is a relationship there. And with Russia 'becoming a Muslim
state,' is it any surprise that they would align themselves with Iran?
Our nation is hated by these groups and they would like nothing better
than to get the U.S. out of their hair and the world along with Israel.
It's all lining up just as the Bible says!

Larouche Warns of Cheney Plans to Launch Iran Strike in June (May 26,
2006) -
Lyndon LaRouche issued a public warning today, that an ever more
desperate Bush Administration, led by Vice President Dick Cheney, is
seriously planning a preventive military strike against Iran sometime
between now and early July. The warning is based on a series of
reports from well-placed military and security sources in the United
States and Europe, who point to a particular convergence of
developments over this period.
First, European security sources have issued dire warnings of serious
terrorist disruptions of the scheduled World Cup soccer tournament,
which takes place in a dozen German cities from early June through
early July. These widely publicized soccer events are believed to
be targeted by so-called hooligan gangs, neo-Nazi youth,
and possibly by "Islamist" organizations, according
to these security specialists. LaRouche pointed out that all of
these countergangs have strong ties to the same European Synarchist
financial circles who financed the Mussolini, Hitler, Franco, and
Vichy fascist organizations during the 1922-1945 period. The heirs of
those Synarchist financiers today are actively involved in promoting a
resurgence of a new international fascist apparatus, which was already
linked to the Madrid, Spain bombings of March 11, 2004, and which
capability extends to Italy and parts of South America, as well as
into the Islamic world. This Synarchist apparatus also has special
capabilities inside Mexico, dating back to the Mussolini and Hitler
period, which still remain deeply embedded in the political and social
fabric of the country. U.S.
military and intelligence sources have also reported that, during the
month of June, three American and one French naval aircraft carrier
group will be converging on Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf waters near
Iran. Thus, military assets will be in place, during that time frame,
to launch a short-notice attack, ostensibly in "retaliation" for
terrorist actions which would be linked to the Teheran regime.

Where Have All the Icebergs Gone?
(May 25, 2006)
- The British-funded Ice
Patrol is usually busy in May, protecting shipping from rogue bergs.
But it's all gone alarmingly quiet this year, as Michael Park
discovers.
A mere 1,000 feet above the frigid waters of the North Atlantic the
debate began in earnest. The pilot of the US Coast Guard's sturdy C130
plane believed the object which had appeared on both of the plane's
radars was an iceberg. One of two young but experienced ice observers
on board disagreed. To definitively identify the target, the plane
started to descend to a mettle-testing 400 feet. This was part of the
mission, and what is demanded of the staff of the International Ice
Patrol (IIP) by the hundreds of ships that traverse this relatively
small part of the ocean and rely on its findings for their safety.
Ever since the Titanic struck what was actually one of more than 350
icebergs drifting amid the northern Atlantic shipping lanes in April,
1912, the US Coast Guard has undertaken annual iceberg patrols to help
protect passenger and freight vessels that sail through the congested
waters east of Canada and down the east coast of America. "Before we
started there were 113 recorded sinkings caused by icebergs," says
Michael Hicks, the present Commander of the International Ice Patrol.
"There have only been 19 since (omega) the Titanic sank, and all of
those were vessels that chose to ignore our warnings." In the past, in
a single year, more than 2,000 icebergs have been spotted, tracked and
on occasion ineffectually bombed by aircraft, in order to prevent
calamitous disasters at sea. Yet in other years, including this one,
few if any bergs manage to migrate south from the Arctic Circle. If
the unidentified floating object below the approaching plane is in
fact an iceberg, it will be the first one seen in the shipping lanes
since May 2005 °© a situation perplexing to oceanographers but
emboldening to those shouting loudly about the effects of climate
change. "I've been trying to understand the variability for years,"
says Don Murphy the IIP's veteran oceanographer. "And every year that
goes by I get another year of experience and realise how little we
really know." more... |

More Uncertainty on World Markets (May
24, 2006) -
The jitters sweeping global markets have
reasserted themselves in Europe, as worries about the continent's
economies triggered fresh falls. Europe's main share indexes all fell
sharply, with the FTSE 100, the Cac 40 and the Dax all losing more than
1.7%, despite earlier solid gains in Asia. Worries about inflation and
interest rates overshadowed profits growth. Analysts expect volatile
trading to continue after poor economic figures prompted a global
sell-off last week. Weighing on the markets is the fear that higher
interest rates needed to rein in inflation could kill off the global
economic recovery in the process. Higher borrowing costs put a brake on
consumer spending and corporate investment, squeezing profits and
jeopardising growth.

Iran Deploys Its War Machine
(May 24, 2006)
-
Iran's strategic planners are acutely
aware that a military confrontation with the technologically more
advanced US Army would be as rapid and multi-fronted as the Iran-Iraq
War was static and slow-paced. Quite simply, there would not be a single
front. Neither the US nor
Israel has ruled out taking military action against nuclear-related
targets in Iran if ongoing diplomatic efforts to freeze Tehran's nuclear
program do not prove successful. Accordingly, Iran has been quietly
restructuring its military, while carrying out a series of military
exercises testing its new military dogma. In December, more than 15,000
members of the regular armed forces participated in war games in
northwestern Iran's strategically sensitive East Azerbaijan and West
Azerbaijan border provinces that focused on irregular warfare carried
out by highly mobile and speedy army units. In another telling
development, a second exercise was launched in the majority-Arab
province of Khuzestan, reportedly aimed at quelling insurgencies in
areas subject to ethnic unrest and prone to foreign influence. Involving
100,000 troops, the exercise provided a taste of how the Islamic
Republic would respond to further disturbances in the strategic,
oil-rich province. The exercise came on the heels of news that the
irregular Basij forces that led Iran's offensives against Iraq were
being bolstered by so-called Ashura battalions with riot-control
training. It is all part of a fundamental transition that Iran's
Revolutionary Guard (RG) is undergoing as it moves away from focusing on
waging its defense of the country on the borders - unrealistic in view
of the vast territory that requires securing and the gulf separating
Iranian and US military capabilities - and toward drawing the enemy into
the heartland and defeating it with asymmetrical tactics.

Iran Test-Fires Long-Range Missile (May
24, 2006) -
Iran conducted a test launch Tuesday night
of the Shihab-3 intermediate-range ballistic missile, which is capable
of reaching Israel and US targets in the region, Israel Radio reported.
The test came hours before Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with US
President George W Bush in Washington to discuss the Iranian threat.
Military officials said it was not clear if this most recent test
indicated an advance in the capabilities of the Shihab 3. They said the
test was likely timed to coincide with the Washington summit and with
comments made by Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah during celebrations
in Beirut marking the 6th anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from

Montserrat’s Volcano Threatens Region with Tsunamis (May
24, 2006) -
Around 7:20am, Saturday, 20 May 2006,
residents of Montserrat witnessed the first dome collapse pyroclastic
flow as it reached the sea. All eyes turned to the sky. Scientists at
the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) say they recorded signals of
increased activity around 6am, Saturday morning. Expecting that this
dome collapse episode could go on for hours, the biggest concern was the
possibility of explosive periods triggering pyroclastic flows into Tyres
Ghaut, which is the upper reaches leading into the Belham River Valley.
Residents of Salem, Olveston, and Old Towne reported stones falling in
those communities. Head of the MVO, Dr. Sue Loughlin, confirmed that
there was heavy ashing with accompanying small stones on the
northwestern side of the island, especially in these villages.

This is one of many indicators that the
tectonic plates are becoming more active around the world. Volcanoes are
waking up all over the place. This could mean more potential for
earthquakes all around the 'ring of fire' and elsewhere. The Pacific
Northwest, San Francisco, and L.A. could be hit at any time. There is
also the dangers in the Pacific Northwest of St. Helens and Mt. Rainier,
both volcanoes, both with increased tremors and in the case of St.
Helens, small eruptions and the rebuilding dome.
Ark. Residents Urged to Prepare for Quake (May
24, 2006) - Federal
and state emergency officials are encouraging Arkansas residents to
prepare now for a possible earthquake. The United States Geological
Survey considers Arkansas among the states with a "high earthquake risk"
because of activity in the New Madrid fault zone. The fault runs from
Marked Tree to near Cairo, Ill., and while it remains active, most of
the quakes are too small to be felt at the surface. Win Henderson, a
spokesman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency at Little Rock,
said Monday the agency wanted to issue a reminder to residents because
catastrophic earthquakes are so unpredictable. "It could be tomorrow. It
could be 60 years. We don't know," Henderson said. In 1811-12, the
faults produced some of the strongest temblors ever known to have struck
the continental United States. Scientists say similar quakes could kill
and injure thousands from St. Louis to Memphis, Tenn., and into
northwest Mississippi, but they're uncertain about how much strain and
movement is occurring along the fault zone.

Forecast Warns of Shower of Frogs (May
22, 2006)
- This
may be the summer of drought - but instead of rain over the next few
months people in Yarmouth have been told to brace themselves for a
downpour of … frogs. That is the unusual conclusion of a senior weather
forecaster who has labelled the resort as the most likely spot for a
downpour of BFOs - bizarre falling objects. The town was showered in
two-inch sprats in August 2000 while other BFO outbreaks recorded around
the country in previous centuries include larger fish, tomatoes and even
coal. Recent changeable weather conditions such as storms, droughts and
sudden downpours have vastly increased the chances of objects falling
from the sky, according to Jim Dale, of British Weather Services, who
says they can be caused by heat and air pressure coupled with
atmospheric instability. He has been studying BFOs for a new report and
has concluded that outbreaks could occur in east Manchester, Ipswich -
but are most likely in Yarmouth. He told the EDP: “People may be
surprised to hear this happens but while it might be unusual it really
does. more...

Scientists Say They Have Cleared Technical Hurdle in Fusion Research (May
22, 2006) - Physicists
working in the United States believe they have cracked an important
problem facing man-made nuclear fusion, touted as the cheap, safe, clean
and almost limitless energy source of the future. In fusion, atomic
nuclei are fused together to release energy, as opposed to fission --
the technique used for nuclear power and atomic bombs -- where nuclei
are split. In a fusion reactor, particles are rammed together to form a
charged gas called a plasma, contained inside a doughnut-shaped chamber
called a tokamak by powerful magnetic coils. A consortium of countries
signed a deal last year to build the International Thermonuclear
Experimental Reactor (ITER) in southern France as a testbed for an
eventual commercial design. But many experts have been shaking their
heads at the many challenges facing the ITER designers. One of them is a
phenomenon called edge localised modes, or ELMs. These are sudden fluxes
or eddies in the outer edge of the plasma that erode the tokamak's inner
wall -- a highly expensive metal skin that absorbs neutrons emitted from
the plasma. Erosion means that the wall has to be replaced more often,
which thus adds hugely to costs. Eroded particles also have a big impact
on the plasma performance, diminishing the amount of energy it can
deliver. Writing on Sunday in the British journal Nature physics, a team
led by Todd Evans of General Atomics, California, believes that the
problematic ELMs can be cleverly controlled. They found that a small
resonant magnetic field, derived from special coils located inside a
reactor vessel, creates "chaotic" magnetic interference on the plasma
edge, which stops the fluxes from forming.

Al-Qaeda's de facto 'boardrooms' are hosted by Saudi and U.A.E. Sheiks
(May 23, 2006)
- When the 9/11 Commission finally released
its report on the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and
Flight 93, there were 28 pages redacted by the government for reasons of
"national security." The information centered around Saudi Arabian and
Emirate sheiks of the U.A.E. Now, a shocking revelation about complicity
between the US State Department and those Sheiks, who also fund al-Qeada,
may prove to be what those redacted pages are, at least in part, about.
This information concerns, of all things, incredibly, falconry, the
practice of hunting with birds. ...Parrot explained to me how falconry
of all things has become a means of funding al Qaeda, of supplying that
terrorist organization that murdered 3,000 people on US soil in 2001
with money, vehicles, equipment, logistical support and just about
anything al Qaeda needs while the US State Department runs interference
for the Sheiks. "The Sheiks fly into hunting camps in Pakistan and
Afghanistan on C-130 military cargo planes filled with SUV's, supplies
and even steamer trunks full of cash. They meet with al Qaeda leaders or
bin Laden himself while in these camps and discuss their Muslim
obligations and unity. When they leave, they leave all the vehicles,
supplies and any other useful equipment behind as donations to al Qaeda
for its efforts at jihad," he told me. "I know this because I was
there." Parrot, who even found himself spending nights in the home of an
al Qaeda arms dealer, says the US State Department covers these
transactions up for the Saudi and Emirate Sheiks much to America's
peril. He makes a convincing case. "Everyone remembers about the Cruise
missiles fired to get bin Laden in Afghanistan after the suicide attack
on the USS Cole," he said. "That was a failure, they missed and did not
kill bin laden in August 1998. But the mainstream press has almost
ignored how there was a botched second opportunity firing the weapon
because some Sheiks from the UAE were allegedly hunting in the area.
"Point of fact, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed - a son of Zayed, was tipped
off about a second US military strike in process against bin Laden by
NSC adviser Richard Clarke," says Parrot. "Mohammed then tipped off his
brother, Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, who was with bin
Laden in the falconry camp in Afghanistan at the time, that an attack
was in the works. Clarke called off the attack to save the lives of the
key Sheiks of the UAE precisely because of the financial interests the
Sheiks have with Washington interests." The attack was stalled and
delayed long enough for bin Laden to escape even though CIA field
operatives had him in their sites for a missile attack. Clarke
subsequently brokered a deal as an agent for Lockheed-Martin worth 6.4
billion dollars to provide the UAE with 80 F-16 fighter jets. "This is
not just about falcons. This has about as much to do with falcons, as
pigskin has to do with the Super Bowl. It is true that falcons are an
essential component, without which, the hunting camps cease to exist.
But more importantly: today's royal falconry hunting camps
which operate without passport or border controls, are month-long venues
for clandestine meetings between legitimate Arab leaders, and today's
dark purveyors of organized terror," Parrot told me angrily. "The same
Sheik who wants to control US seaports meets with bin Laden and supplies
him in these camps!" more... |
Islam | This story is one of
the reasons I personally feel like there is really nothing that we can
do. The people who are in power aren't going to be removed from power.
Especially those not in our nation whom we have no control over. When so
many greedy people can be so easily bought out by oil money, what can we
do even when united in voice together? The corruption is so integrated,
that I'm sure the majority of the evil that goes on is still hidden in
the shadows. Not to mention, you probably couldn't get enough voices
with stories like this because so many would just blow it off as flights
of fancy. It is these secret groups that control the world's nations and
eventually sometime really soon, will bring them all together into a
one-world government under the
beast of Revelation.

The EU Incentives Proposal for Iran Is Rife with Hidden Dangers
(May 20, 2006)
- US undersecretary of
state Nicholas Burns was being polite when he said Friday, May 19, that
Washington was still looking at the European proposal of incentives, and
promised to deliver the US response at the next US meeting with European
negotiators in London this coming Thursday. He was referring to the EU
proposal to persuade Iran to abandon uranium enrichment, the heavy water
plant under construction at Arak and its ambitious nuclear "research"
projects. These concessions would assure the world that Tehran was not
pursuing nuclear weapons. But the package has already been repeatedly
rejected by Iran, dismissed as "nuts and chocolates for gold." According
to DEBKAfile's sources in the US capital, Washington also
finds it unacceptable and has informed the Europeans that their package
poses more dangers - even than the consortium Moscow proposes for a
joint venture to enrich uranium up to low levels in Russia. The Bush
administration accuses the Europeans of going behind America's back to
assemble an apparently innocuous proposal which is rife with hidden
dangers. In the first place, not one, but several light water reactors
are on offer. In the second, Iran will get an almost unlimited
supply of fuel rods containing enriched uranium (up to 60%) for powering
these reactors. Furthermore, the spent fuel contains fission
products and plutonium which has military uses.

A Hamas
Ideologue Bares His Movement's Secret Designs and Dilemmas
(May 14, 2006)
- Since elected to rule
the Palestinians, the leaders of Hamas sound sometimes as though they
are talking in different voices - depending on the place and occasion.
While one appears to accept 1967 borders, another stands by the "right
of refugees" (1948) to return" - another formula for Israel's
destruction, like the demand for a Palestinian state ranging from "the
river to the sea." The tactic is transparent: Hamas, a designated
Islamic terror group whose politburo chief resides in Damascus hopes to
disarm the more susceptible countries of the West by apparently confused
signals to end its government's isolation and get frozen financial aid
back on stream. But in their internal discourse, Hamas' policy-makers
are unwaveringly consistent in their aims. Prof. Abdel al Sather Qassam,
university lecturer at Nablus a-Najah University, is a little-known
figure to the outside world. However Israeli intelligence rates him as
Hamas' senior strategic ideologue and a highly influential voice in the
Palestinian terror movement at large. Last week, he gave a group of
leaders of the umbrella terrorist coalition in Gaza, the Popular
Resistance Committees leader, by video broadcast from Nablus, a stern
talking-to with some important new guidelines. One member of his
audience was Jemal Semhadana, the PRC chief who was recently appointed
commander of the new Hamas security service. Israeli intelligence
monitors routinely listened in to the broadcast. DEBKAfile
runs the gist of the Hamas professor's briefing - obtained from our
intelligence sources - because of his unusual frankness and the
relevance of his guidelines for the immediate future. Prof. Qassam makes
no distinction between Palestinian organizations, whether leftist,
jihadist or semi-criminal, treating them as a single military force
which, he maintains, for the war on Israel is a single entity which
operates in unison. He admits to severe damage sustained by the
Palestinian armed movement in the past year as a result of by systematic
IDF military operations in Palestinian areas and the hindrance posed by
Israel's West Bank Wall (still only partially built.) According to the
Hamas academic, the wall shot a large hole in the balance of terror the
Palestinians had gained through its suicide terror attacks. Al Qassam
puts his finger on the Palestinian terror movement's primary
predicament, the inability to make the transition from terror attacks to
guerilla warfare. He reproves the Palestinians for their childish and
primitive grasp of the nature of guerrilla war, because of which " We
(the Palestinians) of all the organizations share the same difficulty in
mounting a challenge to Israel from the West Bank."
