The Beast of Revelation 13

The Beast is more commonly known as the “antichrist.” While the Bible talks about antichrists’ in the plural as a spiritual rejection of Yeshua and the Father, there is a man who will be the summation of the spirit of antichrist, or in place of Christ Himself. He will glorify himself as God, declaring so in the rebuilt Jewish temple. That person is described in scripture as the beast out of the sea.

He will head the Fourth Kingdom. I believe the first beast described in Revelation 13 is actually an image of the antichrist kingdom. It is represented by several heads that represent the kingdoms of men historically. Since the completed beast from the sea is ultimately controlled by one man, the beast from the sea and his kingdom are essentially one in the same. Just as our head controls our body, so too will the head control the final kingdom before Christ returns in glory to put down all kingdoms and bring His own eternal kingdom.

There are actually two beasts that come, but they are not the same beast. The characters in these end-time prophecies are:

Use of the Term “Antichrist”

There is a belief that there is not a single man who is called the “antichrist” by some believers. Rather, that the term is associated with a spiritual alignment apart from God’s Truth through Christ that is not literally fulfilled in a future man but is spiritual and continual in nature. My view is in agreement with this while also recognizing that there is a future man called the man of sin, son of perdition and other such terms in Bible prophecy who I also term as the future “antichrist.”

Truly the majority of these passages use the term antichrist as a spiritual alignment anyone can take that denies that Yeshua is the Christ come in the flesh or denies He is the Son of the Father in heaven. However we are also told in the first example that, “ye have heard that antichrist shall come...” in context to the last time and knowing it is at hand. This is contrasted with the many antichrists already meaning that while the spiritual aspect of this seen in the last three examples is true and doesn’t speak of a future instance that stands apart, there is also an antichrist that shall come.

This is the future “man of sin,” or “son of perdition” spoken of in scripture that will be touched on below. He will deny Yeshua is the Christ and furthermore set himself up as an idol to be worshipped declaring himself to be God. He will be the cause of great tribulation and the instrument of the dragon’s wrath on Israel and all of God’s people on the earth.

Whether comfortable using the term antichrist to describe him or not, this page is focused on this future man and by using the term antichrist to describe him I am referring to this future literal figure that will be further described in scripture on this page who will be the ultimate fulfillment of denial of the Father and Son, replacing himself as God and demanding worship from the whole world or death.

The Antichrist: the Head of the Beast from the Sea

This passage is clear that there is a literal man in the future who will be given power and authority by the dragon, Lucifer, for 42 months and rule over the earth that will be worshipping him.

I believe the antichrist rising from Europe is evident from Nebuchadnezzar’s dream interpreted by Daniel in Daniel 2. There were several sections to the statue. The only two sections which contained the same metal were the two legs which we know as the Roman Empire, Eastern and Western legs. The feet and 10 toes also contain iron, but this time it is partly strong and partly weak for the mixing of “their” seed with the seed of men. Daniel 2:41-44 Whatever that ends up meaning, it’s still the same metal.

In keeping with the symbology of the Eastern and Western legs of the Roman Empire, it would appear that the iron and clay feet and toes would also be a combination of the East and West, which helps explain where I believe the prophecy regarding the false prophet may be pointing to.

Another primary scripture showing a future man who will be the fulfillment of this antichrist to come is found in the letter to the church of Thessalonica. This is a second letter expounding on some ideas presented in Paul’s previous letter to them regarding the coming day of the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

The membership going through persecution was afraid that the salvation promised from the wrath to come had passed and so they had been left behind. This idea is covered more in the harpazo Bible study, more specifically the timing according to scripture of the pre-wrath harpazo of the bride. For this topic the focus is on the identity of a future person and what he will do.

This passage lays out many aspects of this antichrist to come. He is called the “man of sin,” “son of perdition,” and “that wicked.” All of these point to what he is going to do and his concealing until that time by the restrainer. He will exalt himself above all that is called God or worshipped, sitting in the temple of God saying that he is God. This also speaks to the rebuilding of the temple spoken of in Revelation 11:1-2 as well.

This blasphemy is spoken of elsewhere in scripture pointing to this time also called the abomination of desolation. This is where an idol is placed in the Holy of Holies. The man of sin sets himself up as an idol to be worshipped and this is the main thrust of his 42 month reign of forcing people to worship him, the war on the saints.

This “time and times and the dividing of time” is 3½ years, or 42 months, referred to in Revelation 13:5. And in addition to this beast from the sea, there will be a man called the false prophet who acts as an enforcer of the antichrist’s policies and enforces worship of both the beast and the dragon who gives them both their power.

All of this speaks to a literal time in the future where two literal men will work in conjunction with the dragon that gives them their power to overcome the saints on the earth and kill all those who refuse to worship them and force them to take a mark of loyalty to the beast, the mark of the beast.

Where is he coming from?

I’ve already stated my belief that the antichrist comes from the revived Roman Empire, but that is not the only view. There’s a possibility of a Grecian connection and some believe a Turkish antichrist will rise on the scene.

Antichrist coming from ancient Greece?

Here we see that the goat is the Grecian empire. The notable horn between his eyes is Alexander the Great, who conquered Medo-Persia. This is the belly and thighs of brass kingdom from Daniel 2. When Alexander the Great died, his four generals divided his kingdom, the four horns. Where I believe the Bible says the antichrist comes from the Grecian kingdom is the next verse that says a little horn came from one of these four horns, the Seleucid Empire. However, the timing of the rising of this little horn is stated later as the latter time of their kingdom, “for at the time of the end shall be the vision.”

What About the Roman Empire?

“Many Christian teachers have taught that the Antichrist will emerge from the Roman Empire and then rule over most parts, if not all, of Europe. Thus, his empire will be a revived version of the Roman Empire. For an idea of what the Roman Empire looked like, see this map. It stretched from Spain to Mesopotamia and Assyria (modern day Iraq). In Daniel Chapter 8, we read of another of Daniel’s vision that concerns the End Times. In this chapter, Daniel saw a two-horned ram that was attacked by a goat and killing the ram. Then the large horn of the goat was broken, and in its place four horns took its place. The Angel Gabriel identified that the ram was the Medo-Persian Empire (v. 20), and the goat the Greek Empire (v. 21). When Alexander the Great died at the young age of 33 (“at the height of his power”) (v. 8), his empire was divided by his four generals (v. 8): Seleucus (Seleucid Empire), Ptolemy (Egypt), Lysimachos (Thrace) and Cassander (Macedon and Greece). See this map for this partition. The Seleucid Empire has its capitol over Babylon and was the largest of the four. It is also the one that the Bible described concerning the Antichrist: Out of one of them came another horn, which started small but grew in power to the south and to the east and toward the Beautiful Land. (Daniel 8:9) “Beautiful Land” of course refers to the land of Israel. Thus, we can see that this “little horn” comes from the geographic region of the Seleucid Empire. Many have also seen that the description of the little horn also fit somewhat Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a ruthless Seleucid king who desecrated the Jewish Temple by sacrificing a pig on its altar and setting up a statue of Zeus. However, the problem of simply treating the passage as dealing with Antiochus is that the Angel Gabriel explicitly told Daniel that “the vision concerns the time of the end” (v. 17), and the visions concern “what will happen later in the time of wrath because the vision concerns the appointed time of the end” (v. 19). It’s fulfillment, therefore, is two-fold, one concerning Antiochus and the other the Antichrist “at the appointed time of the end”. It is clear that Antiochus IV Epiphanes was, at the most, a prototype of the Antichrist that is to come.”

I believe that the antichrist comes from the revived Roman Empire, heading the end-time alliance of nations, which I believe to be the European Union today. I believe this is the Fourth Kingdom of Daniel 7. There is a possibility also that while the antichrist will rise to power in the revived Roman Empire, that his lineage comes from the Seleucid Empire.

Antichrist coming from Turkey?

I’m have a hard time with the antichrist coming out of Turkey or Iran for the following reasons.

The antichrist is supposed to sign a covenant with many that allows the temple to be rebuilt that he will later declare himself god in, but not the God of his fathers.

To me, this is in direct opposition to any ideas of claiming to be Christ. It is his claiming to be god that marks the attempted destruction of the Jews. There wouldn’t be much point in saying he’s their Messiah if he’s going to kill 2/3 of them.

It’s looking a lot like the Gog/Magog invasion is being set up. Even to the extent that Turkish and Russian troops will be sent into Lebanon to keep the peace without disarming Hezbollah. To me, it looks like a deception to have all the armies just a few miles North of Jerusalem for easy and quick attack. They found Iranian military in Lebanon already. That’s some of the major players in the Gog/Magog invasion already deploying troops to Lebanon under what I believe are false pretenses.

I could be wrong, but it’s too perfect and fits with the way they work. Lay low with a good deception that lulls the enemy into a sense of security (keeping Hezbollah from firing), then suddenly they all swarm in on Israel. If this is the case, How would anyone from Turkey have any kind of sway to bring peace in Israel when that nation has just failed an attempt to wipe out Israel?

I believe that the “deadly wound by the sword” may happen as a result of the abomination of desolation. This abomination of desolation coincides with Michael the Archangel standing up (Daniel 12:1 | 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8) when he goes to heaven to cast the dragon and fallen angels to the earth as revealed in Revelation 12:7-9; 13. I believe, like the Maccabean revolt, the Jews will realize that the great peacemaker is not who he seems when he declares himself God in their temple. Currently it is difficult to see such a secular liberal Israel getting upset, but I believe there are several events that come before that will shift the spiritual state of the nation of Israel prior to the rebuilding of the temple.

The dragon, having just been cast out of heaven will heal the deadly wound of the beast (7^th head) and the world will be amazed. In retaliation, the newly revived and dragon-controlled beast (8^th head of the seven now controlling global politics through emergency powers) will order the genocide of all Jews in Judea because of the assassination attempt. They will be viewed by the New World Order as the intolerant “destroyers of civilization” that the Alliance of Civilizations will be working against.

I believe the false prophet may be the 12th Mahdi and with signs and lying wonders he will direct the worship of Muslims to the antichrist. When the antichrist orders the complete destruction of Israel, their stated goal of wiping Israel off the map, they will probably be worked into a fervor and go through Jerusalem and Judea like a wave of murder, Joel 2:1-11 killing 2/3 of Israel. Zechariah 13:8,9

This starts the time of Jacob’s trouble of Matthew 24:15-22. That’s why Christ said for them in Judea to run to the mountains when they see the abomination of desolation. Because soon after that, the antichrist will order the genocide of the Jews for their revolt.

There has been much speculation through history about this number 666. I like Herb L. Peter’s description best as it looks to the original Greek to reveal an amazing correlation to events of recent history.

Amazingly enough, a legal document that gave emergency powers to the most powerful man in Europe, Mr. Europe, was produced by the Western European Union numbered Recommendation 666. A warning to everyone regarding this from the Bible, don’t take the mark if you are here when it is implemented. It shows a lack of faith in God and a reliance on man instead and the desire to save the physical life will result in losing your eternal life, a bad trade-off for maybe a few years.

The New RFID Tattoo - Mark of the Beast? Prophecy In The News - Now, it can be truly said that the biblical “mark of the beast,” with all its ramifications, is a technological reality. Everything is in place for a quick move toward the electronic registration of every human being on earth. This has now been made possible with the announcement of a new identification system. Unveiled in January, it perfectly fits the requirements of the famous mark. It involves the use of a proprietary substance called RFID ink. These four initials designate the term, “Radio Frequency IDentification.” It has now been tested and proven, and publicly proclaimed as ready for use. But before we look at it in detail, let’s review what the Bible says about the mark. Throughout the Church Age, speculation about this sinister mark has been practically endless. And why not? Those who believe in the reality of an Antichrist have strained to understand how he will ultimately do the evil work described in the Bible. Before the computer age, it was commonly held that this mark would have to be some sort of brand, perhaps a tattoo. Certainly, Scripture describes exactly this scenario: “And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: “And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (Revelation 13:15-17). The “mark” mentioned here is translated from the Greek word, charagma, which denotes a stamp or impression. It may also indicate an engraving or even a tattoo. In his Notes on the Bible, Albert Barnes writes on the history of the mark. His observations are typical of those held throughout the Church Age: “Applied to people, it was used to denote some stamp or mark on the hand or elsewhere — as in the case of a servant on whose hand or arm the name of the master was impressed; or of a soldier on whom some mark was impressed denoting the company or phalanx to which he belonged. It was no uncommon thing to mark slaves or soldiers in this way; and the design was either to denote their ownership or rank, or to prevent their escaping so as not to be detected. Among the Romans, slaves were stigmatized with the master’s name or mark on their foreheads. “Most of us have seen such marks made on the hands or arms of sailors, in which, by a voluntary tattooing, their names, or the names of their vessels, were written, or the figure of an anchor, or some other device, was indelibly made by punctures in the skin, and by inserting some kind of coloring matter.”

RFID poised for the big time in 2008 Vnunet (December 24, 2007) - Next year will witness the spread of RFID applications into familiar, everyday settings, while consumer electronics, wireless technologies and security requirements will continue to benefit from the integration of RFID. French Bulldog is Catalyst for Investigation of Microchip-Cancer Connection Spychips.org (September 8, 2007) - Could a microchip implant like the VeriChip cause cancer? A French Bulldog named Léon was the catalyst for new questions about the safety of RFID implants. One year ago, Léon’s owner contacted me with startling news. She believed that her dog’s cancerous tumor and his untimely death might have been caused by a microchip implant. This was not just idle talk by a grieving dog owner grasping at straws to figure out why she had been robbed of her constant companion. This was a gutsy lady who refused to allow the vet to simply cremate the evidence. This lady prefers to be known only by her first name of “Jeanne,” so the Associated Press couldn’t credit her properly as the original source for some of the explosive information in its article “Chip Implants Linked to Animal Tumors,” but I have the leeway in this forum to share the behind-the-scenes story. Jeanne spent a small fortune trying to cure her ailing French bulldog, Léon, after he was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. When medical interventions failed and Léon passed away, she decided to hunt for the reason the fatal tumor in his body was attached to the glass-encapsulated microchip that had been injected into his neck for identification purposes. Jeanne located a team of researchers in Italy who agreed to test tissue samples from a biopsy of Léon’s tumor to determine if the microchip was implicated in his aggressive cancer. They documented their findings in a 2006 paper entitled, “Fibrosarcoma with Typical Features of Postinjection Sarcoma at Site of Microchip Implant in a Dog: Histologic and Immunohistochemical Study.” The full text is available online here. Since Léon’s suspicious cancer was not enough evidence to prove microchip implants were a threat, Jeanne decided to search for other proof of a link. She unearthed scholarly animal studies documenting a possible chip-cancer link and posted several of these at the website that she formed as a tribute to Léon: Jeanne informed us of this research and even faxed us copies of these studies as they were difficult to obtain. Fortunately, my Spychips co-author Dr. Katherine Albrecht had access to the Harvard library and was able to take Jeanne’s work further, analyzing additional studies that seemed to support a cancer-microchip link in animals. Sometime later, AP Reporter Todd Lewan entered the picture, eager for an exclusive. He used his press credentials to gain further information, tie up the story with a perfect, documented bow, and broadcast it to media outlets around the world. Could this be the what pushes for the ink RFID tattoo instead of the grain-of-rice-sized Verichip? The Bible talks about the mark of the beast without which you cannot buy or sell. It will happen and the technology to force people to buy and sell only by getting the RFID mark that carries a unique ID number is already here. The system is being implemented now, prepared for future use. Imagine a world with no more paper currency. The stores don’t take it, they just have RFID readers. There is no longer exchange rates or different currencies. Due to financial collapse and world catastrophes, the world will be united under a man declaring himself to be God. Anyone who refuses cannot buy or sell and will be rejected from society and eventually will be forced to participate or will be killed. Sound crazy? That is nothing compared to what else will be going down during this time. We need to develop a personal relationship with Yeshua because He is our blessed hope. National ID? How about a global ID? Info World (August 10, 2007) - A little-known federation quietly lays the infrastructure for a universal identity system that could eventually be implemented nationally or internationally. The Federation for Identity and Cross-Credentialing Systems (FiXs) -- a little-known group of non-profits, government contractors, commercial entities, and government agencies -- has just unveiled a first-of-its-kind global infrastructure to support distributed, integrated identity management and cross-credentialing across organizations. The implementation combines several existing security technologies along with a set of trusted models, policies, and operating rules to insure the accurate identity of personnel accessing physical sites or logical systems. Already in a pilot mode at a handful of government agencies and defense contractors, the FiXs identity management initiative does not have a hard date for broad deployment, although the impediments do not appear to be technical. “The cultural gap with the public in general is still too wide,” said Dr. Mike Mestrovich, President of FiXs. “I think there would have to be a public consensus to move us in that direction and I don’t see that happening until at least 2009 or beyond.” Founded in 2004 and based in Fairfax, Va., FiXs counts among its members the Department of Defense (DoD), Wells Fargo, Lockheed Martin, EDS, and several others. Modeled after secure electronic payment systems and initially implemented by the DoD’s Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC), the FiXs initiative meets the objectives set forth in the October 2006 Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12). “Until now, cross-bordering policies between government and industry had not been established,” said Mary Dixon, director at the DMDC. The FiXs implementation does not assign roles, grant or deny access, or otherwise act as a gatekeeper. Rather, the mission of FiXs is simply to authenticate the identity of participants within its member organizations. Once verified by FiXs, individual site managers and systems administrators assign or designate access controls based on the role of the individual and the policies of a given organization. FiXs’ capabilities allow it to cross between both public and private sector organizations using a federated trust model. The implementation is available worldwide in local or remote settings via both wireless and wired environments. Access is available in real time. An individual’s specific identity data remains within their vetted source organization. “By its very nature, the federated solution aids in privacy because there is no central database and individual data can be stored in only one [vetted] place,” Dr. Mestrovich said. According to the Bible, without this mark a person will be unable to buy or sell. But the Bible tells us the end, not always how it gets to that point. I believe this is a good example of how the infrastructure could be there without anyone really realizing it in the population until the time came to implement it. US Doctors Okays Policy Promoting RFID Chipped “Mark of the Beast” Technology jreynolds.itn@comcast.net (June 26, 2007) - The American Medical Association has just adopted a new policy that approves the concept of RFID computer chip implant technology. The new technology is different than the “Angel Chip” implant technology that is now in its infancy phase. “Angel Chip” technology is a passive system that does not give out a radio signal. The new RFID chip technology uses a microscopic radio transmitter and transmits a radio signal much like a radio station only on a smaller scale. The new RFID technology will enable anyone with an implant to be trackable by the government. The new RFID technology is being hailed as a wonderful breakthrough for medical information purposes as well as general identification and protection from kidnappings or the individual becoming lost. The new technology will also be adaptable for an electronic monetary system that would eliminate paper and coined money. In effect, the RFID technology is in reality capable of matching the Biblical prophecies found in Revelation 13 which refers to the “mark of the beast” in which it is stated that no one will be able to buy or sell without this “mark.” The Greek term for “mark” can be translated as an “etching” which is the precise word that describes the microscopic circuitry on a computer chip - because it is “etched” onto the chip. RFID technology is already now in use for tagging consumer and industrial products. Wal-Mart and other companies have adopted RFID chip technology to speed up their shipping systems and better track its inventories and just-in-time ordering systems to minimize the chances of running out of stock and or being overstocked. The AMA policy adoption is the first hurdle for the RFID technology. It will have to approved in the USA by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) but with AMA approval, the FDA will most likely be a rubber-stamp for the technology much like with the “Angel Chip” technology of just two years ago. It would appear now that the only thing holding up implementation of the 6-6-6 implantation policies of humans is:

1. government approval of the concept of implantation in humans
2. implementation of a new electronic monetary system that eliminates paper/coin money
3. mass production of RFID computer chips for human implantation
4. The Antichrist himself and his False Prophet to appear and give the mandated order for chip implantation.

The mass production of RFID computer chips for human implantation may take a year or two of mass production to have enough to chip the entire human population around the globe and to get everyone implanted. At the earliest, we could expect this technology to be in place globally with human implantation in as little as two years (2009) but more likely in 2010 to 2012. Global economy faces ‘chaos’ - World Economic Forum Forbes (June 24, 2007) - The international community faces a real risk of ‘economic chaos’ arising from major imbalances in the global financial system, the World Economic Forum on East Asia was told Sunday. Complacency has set in after years of uninterrupted global growth and there is no evidence to suggest a self-correcting mechanism is in place to avert a major shock to the global financial system, delegates to the two-day forum were told. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singapore’s Second Minister for Finance, warned the financial contagion will hit when it is least expected and bring about a ‘vicious’ aftermath. ‘You can’t predict when it’s going to come. You can’t predict the scale but there’s a feeling that when it comes, it’s going to be a pretty large impact and going to be very difficult to manage,’ said Shanmugaratnam, 10 years after a financial crisis shook the region’s economies. Thailand’s Minister of Finance Chalongphob Sussangkarn said that ‘unfortunately we cannot see any self-correcting mechanism’ when looking at the global economic imbalance. ‘So we are moving basically in a situation where there’s no real correcting mechanism and hoping that one day the market will perform a correction,’ Chalongphob said ‘But as we all know it’s like when you stretch an elastic band. If you let the market correct the mechanism then eventually it will snap and this will bring about a huge amount of economic chaos in the world.’ more...

Out of chaos will come a new way to prevent it. I believe that technology will be RFID. There is an RFID ink now, which if injected as a tattoo, would be a way to individually identify those marked in a global wireless Internet system where money would disappear and buying and selling would be dependent on having this form of identification. The technology is here and we’re being led down that road now. For the sake of peace and security, I believe we will see this soon.

National ID Card a Future Job Requirement? (June 20, 2006) - The job application of the future may require showing would-be bosses a new ID card proving prospective employees are who they say they are. As Congress debates sweeping immigration and border security reforms, some lawmakers and policy experts say no new system will work without such tamper-proof credentials. Otherwise, immigrants still could come to the United States illegally and use fake documents to get jobs, possibly undermining reforms designed to encourage legal immigration. How lawmakers deal with verifying workers’ identities could determine whether immigration reform succeeds or fails. Experts agree the prospect of finding work in the United States is the lure for more than 500,000 undocumented immigrants who come here every year. But critics are concerned about privacy issues with an ID card system, adding to worries that the government would be too involved in job applications under any new immigration system. The House and the Senate have passed competing versions of reform legislation, and both bills would require employers to check whether workers are legally eligible for U.S. jobs. Neither bill would create a new ID document for all workers - the Senate bill calls for ID cards for foreign guest workers, and the House bill would have employers check applicants’ Social Security numbers against a federal database. But revisions are expected during negotiations over how to reconcile the two bills. Negotiations have not yet begun, but Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., says a “secure, tamper-proof” ID card is an essential part of reform that he will push for during House-Senate meetings. more...

I don’t believe this is the mark of the beast, but it’s certainly the same kind of idea. There’s just one more step (to improve security of course) and that is to use technology to implant an RFID tag under the skin that would ID the user. Since it’s internal, theft isn’t an issue anymore. I can see many people accepting this because it is easier. The actual mark of the beast (Revelation 13:16-18), in my opinion, will be more than a mark, but it will be a pledge of allegiance to the one it represents, the beast. However, I find it interesting that the technology is already here and being used by some. I believe the RFID chip will be the technology that the beast uses to implement the mark such that nobody can buy or sell without it. This way, it’s left up to the individual to make a choice, either accept the beast and take the mark, or condemn yourself to a life outside the system where you can’t shop anymore for food, clothing, etc. These that choose not to take the mark will be looked down upon with distain and suspicion. Indeed, even today many people look on those raising the alarm about this with distain. They fail to realize that the “harmless system” is not all-knowing, but subject to the control of whoever is the most powerful. This attitude toward those who refuse to participate will be used to justify the imprisonment and eventually murder of these “terrorists” that refuse to be a part of society and the accompanying beast worship. So this may not be “it,” but it is certainly the beginning. If nothing else, it prepares the collective minds of the world to at least consider it now while it is harmless so that when it isn’t harmless we will already be programmed somewhat. A testing of the waters, but it will come.

Alzheimer’s Care Center to Carry Out VeriChip Pilot RFID Journal (May 25, 2007) - This summer, Alzheimer’s Community Care (ACC), a West Palm Beach, Fla., provider of support to Alzheimer’s patients and their caretakers, will implant RFID chips in about 200 volunteers who are clients of the organization. The two-year project, says Mary M. Barnes, president and CEO of ACC, will employ VeriChip Corp.’s VeriMed system to help identify patients who arrive at an emergency room in an unresponsive state. ACC provides support to about 2,000 patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. That includes a daycare center for some patients, as well as visiting registered nurses, caregiver education programs and support groups. One safety concern, Barnes says, involves the lack of information available to medical personnel when patients unable to speak for themselves are admitted to a hospital during an emergency, unaccompanied by caregivers. In such circumstances, the patients may receive inappropriate treatment because doctors are unaware of any existing medical conditions. “I really am concerned about the situation with Alzheimer’s patients dealing with losing the ability to remember,” Barnes says. “This [loss of memory] is so isolating that the effect on the patient and the caregiver is very dramatic. In an acute situation, such as emergency medical services, it can be even worse. There comes a point in a person’s illness when you have to look at every safety measure available.” Alzheimer’s Community Care considered a multitude of resources to reduce this risk, says Barnes, including MedicAlert wristbands. Such wristbands, however, can be removed or damaged, rendering them useless. Therefore, 10 months ago, Barnes began speaking with Scott Silverman, now chairman and CEO of VeriChip, about an RFID solution. Alzheimer’s Community Care has formed a review board to generate the proper paperwork for the participants, as well as other basic protocols, before beginning the project. Once the board finishes its work and the project is launched, hospitals that have VeriChip-trained staff and have implemented the procedures will be able to access the medical histories of the 200 participating patients. When an unresponsive patient enters the hospital, the staff can use an RFID interrogator to scan that person’s arm. If the patient has had a VeriMed chip embedded, the reader will indicate its ID number. That number can then be inputted manually, or directed wirelessly to the VeriMed Web-based database. Thanks to Kimberly for the referral! In today’s security-conscious world, imagine instead of hospital information, a system where money was now obsolete and payment was automatic and mindless. Nobody takes cash anymore because there’s no longer a system in place to handle it. That time is coming and already possible. With RFID taking off for so many applications that makes life easier, the system is probably already close to being in place. I actually believe that the mark of the beast in Bible prophecy will be RFID ink so that it will be impossible to remove it from under the skin adding to the security. But this prepares the world to accept what is coming more readily. Ultimately I believe that the “mark” will be made as a pledge of allegiance to the antichrist as well as buying into his system. I think many people won’t have a problem with that when the time comes.

Real IDs to Become Real in 2010 (March 2, 2007) - US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced today that states will be given an additional two years past the original May 11, 2008 deadline to comply with the directives of the controversial Real ID Act. Originally enacted into law in 2005, the Act contains many contentious directives, such as state agencies scanning of personal documents into a nationally-accessible database, giving a uniform appearance to each state’s personal IDs, and implementing RFID tagging. Today, in announcing the new deadline of December 31, 2009, Sec. Chertoff stressed that the process of tightening identification security strictly involves common sense.Once the deadline has passed, applicants for driver’s licenses will need to prove five items to their local DMV: name, birth date, legal status, social security number, and address. These can all be confirmed with birth certificates, passports, permanent resident cards, Social Security cards, or W-2s; and for addresses, a recent utility bill or similar document. This is all essentially the same process US citizens had to endure 20 years ago to verify their new address for the Postal Service, although now documents will be scanned or copied and stored in the DMV’s database. According to Chertoff, some states have already begun doing this. In addition, states will be required to prepare security plans for DMV offices, license storage and production facilities, databases, and systems. Chertoff today addressed fears that the federal government was accumulating a central database of citizens’ identities - one which would inevitably become the target of attack from malicious users. “We at the Department of Homeland Security in the federal government will not build, will not own, and will not operate any central database containing personal information,” he told reporters. “The data will continue to be held at the state level as it has traditionally been since they began to issue drivers’ licenses.” As for the RFID tagging, Chertoff said: “The magnetic strips, these aren’t RFID. You’d have to actually take the strip and run it into a reader.” While Chertoff’s comments do address the state of affairs at present, he did not decisively say whether the magnetic strips will be replaced with RFID by the January 2010 implementation date. He repeated several times, however, his belief that technology makes these IDs better.
