New Jerusalem

New Jerusalem is only mentioned a few times in scripture directly, but I believe it is indirectly referred to several more times, all speaking of the same place. Unlike the earth-based Jerusalem this city of God will exist for eternity, surviving the destruction of this current heaven and earth to exist for eternity in the new heavens and on the new earth. The direct mention of New Jerusalem comes at the end of scripture, looking to the bride of Christ’s future residence with God.

Revelation 3:12
[to the angel of the church in Philadelphia] Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Revelation 21:2-3; 9-27
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. [1,500 miles!] The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

According to scripture, it is the home of the bride of Christ. I believe it is the “Father’s house with many mansions” that Christ was referring to in John 14:1-4. And for another great related study, read Lost In Translation: Rediscovering the Hebrew Roots to Our Faith to see just how the Hebrew marriage customs foreshadow the events of Christ’s payment for His bride, preparation of our future residence and return to gather His bride in the harpazo.

Ephesians 2:19-22
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

From the description of New Jerusalem, it has:

  • 12 Gates = 12 Tribes of Israel [Through Israel, salvation came so through Israel’s gates the righteous will forever pass.]
  • 12 Foundations = 12 Apostles [Founded the church upon which all members of the body of Christ built upon. We see this principle below.]
Revelation 21:14
And the wall of the city [New Jerusalem] had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

1 Corinthians 3:10,11
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I [Paul] have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
  • 12,000 Furlongs = ~ 1,500 miles (Keep in mind that at the time New Jerusalem will be on the earth and no longer in heaven, that the current heavens and earth will have been destroyed and we will be living on the new earth. Revelation 21:1-3 I’m unaware of any indicators of how large the new earth will be, but to give an idea of the scope of the size of New Jerusalem, here is what 1,500 miles looks like overlaid in the Middle East. Keep in mind too that the height is 1,500 miles as well.)

Is New Jerusalem The Bride of Christ?

We saw in Revelation that New Jerusalem was referred to as being “prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Moreover when John is told he will be shown the bride, the Lamb’s wife, he is shown New Jerusalem. Its construction is then further described in detail. This has led some people to believe that the city New Jerusalem is the bride of Christ.

There is a good reason why many associate New Jerusalem with the bride, they are linked in many ways. New Jerusalem is the Father’s house with many mansions that Yeshua is preparing for us right now and in which we reside with Christ and the Father forever! (John 14:1-3) The wife and husband become one in marriage, just as the body [church] and the head [Christ] are joined at the marriage of the Lamb. I believe scripture is pretty clear that the bride of Christ is not a city, but rather the creation that God loves and redeemed. I explain why I don’t believe the city is the bride in greater detail here.

Is New Jerusalem A Pyramid?

I started thinking about this a while back after hearing Chuck Missler refer to the bottomless pit as being the center of the earth because the center of the earth is the one place where there is no bottom, everywhere is up. This is similar to riddle posing the question, “where is the one place where every direction is South?”

The description of New Jerusalem states that “the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.” This had always come to my mind as being a giant cube before, but a thought came to me that Christ is the chief cornerstone that the builders rejected. [Matthew 21:42, Mark 12:10, Luke 20:17]

The cornerstone (or foundation stone) concept is derived from the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation, important since all other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure. It seemed to me that the chief cornerstone would be where all corners met. In a cube this doesn’t really fit, but if the top four corners were to all meet at the same place, the shape would change from a cube to a pyramid, yet keeping all the dimensions given in scripture.

Relating back to Christ being the chief cornerstone, notice in a pyramid shape that the capstone consists of four corners all meeting in one place, the top. That would make Him the capstone of the pyramid shape. Relate that to the body of Christ. He is the head [capstone] and we are all the body [base] of the pyramid.

I later watched The Pillar of Enoch, now titled The Great Pyramid - Lost Legend of Enoch. It presented several intriguing questions and answered them from scripture and archeological evidence discounting the commonly accepted views on who built the Great Pyramid and why. Is the Great Pyramid in Giza an altar to the LORD? Is it in the same shape as New Jerusalem? Did Enoch get the plans from God and Methuselah build it? Is that why the flood wouldn’t come until Methuselah had died, because he was responsible for the building of the altar to the Lord that would survive the flood? “You have set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, to this day…” - Jeremiah 32:20 (NKJV)

Isaiah 19:19,20
In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD. And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.

The above passage of Scripture indicates that Yahweh placed “signs and wonders” in Egypt that existed in the prophet Jeremiah’s day. The Hebrew word translated as “signs” in this Scripture is “oth,” which can refer to a sign or signal, as in a flag, beacon, or monument. Interestingly, “oth” can also refer to an omen, or portent of the future. This same word was used in Genesis 1:15 to describe the purpose of the lights God fixed in the heavens above the Earth. These lights are the Sun, Moon, planets, comets, and stars surrounding our Earth. All of these celestial bodies are connected to the Mazzeroth, and all have spiritual and prophetic meanings. These signs and wonders in Egypt were therefore also likely tied in some way to Sacred Astronomy. Likewise, they were probably meant to shed light on the nature of God, and the future of mankind using the same symbolism that is found in the Gospel in the Stars.

The Great Pyramid of Giza Picture tour of the Great Pyramid - Some great research and data on the Great Pyramid and why it stands out from any other. Some teasers:

  • Originally it was to have a solid gold capstone that was a scale model of the pyramid itself. It was never placed because the builders rejected it. Only on a pyramid can a capstone also be the head of the corner. (Psalm 118:22 and Matthew 21:42)
  • It’s different from all the other pyramids in Egypt. For one thing it’s made of stone, not bricks, and is the only one not solid.

  • The Great Pyramid never served as a tomb.
  • It faces due North more accurately than we can position buildings today so that each side faces the four cardinal points of the compass. Its shadow predicted equinoxes and solstices.
  • Why, if everything the Egyptians built was based on the Egyptian Cubit was the Great Pyramid of Giza based on the Hebrew Sacred Cubit? There’s only one answer, the Egyptians didn’t design the Great Pyramid of Giza.

If indeed the great pyramid in Giza is the altar to the Lord in Egypt as the Bible says, then I find it interesting that the capstone of the pyramid was never finished. If that truly represents New Jerusalem, then the chief cornerstone would be the capstone, the one place where all corners meet, the singularity which is Christ who we all must go through to enter heaven. Perhaps the capstone will be placed on it after the marriage of the Lamb, when Christ returns in glory?

The only way to go to heaven, above the pyramid, is through the cornerstone, Christ. He is the singularity - the door - to the Father and heaven.  This puts all things under Christ, who is our cornerstone. All we know is that the length, breadth, and height are all the same. That can still be a pyramid shape. And the pyramid is the only time you have a chief cornerstone because a cube would have eight identical cornerstones. Here’s how I think the measurements may apply.

The Chronology of the Pyramid

The Great Pyramid has been called “the Bible in stone” because its passage systems reveal geometrically, in line and symbol, the same profound spiritual truths and plan of salvation specific to the Bible, as will be seen as this study unfolds. And just as there are time prophecies of significance in the Bible, the Pyramid’s silent geometry reveals a remarkable chronography, prophetic time in stone. The challenge to deciphering the prophetic scale is deciphering what measure of length equals what measure of time. The key to this scale is given in the Pyramid, in the upper horizontal passage system’s first ante-chamber, in what is known as “Enoch’s circle.” Enoch was translated when he was 365 years old. A circle is a symbol of eternity and Enoch thus “entered eternity” at 365. The circle formed in that first antechamber, defined by the floor and the two hanging walls measures 365.25 inches.

The Pyramid speaks with geometry, not words

While being the oldest structure on the face of the earth, the Great Pyramid is the most accurately oriented, being laid out almost exactly due north, south, east, and west. Modern man’s best effort, the Paris Observatory, is six minutes of a degree off true north. The Great Pyramid is only three minutes deviant and E. Raymond Capt claims that is due mainly to subsidence. Many architects and engineers who have studied the Pyramid’s structure contend that, with all our vaunted technological prowess, we could not build the structure today.

The Pyramid is at the earth’s center

Gematria is the science of finding meaning in the numerical value of words. In the Hebrew language each individual letter has a numerical value. Thus every word has the numerical value of the sum of the value of its letters. If one adds up the numerical value of all the Hebrew characters in the Great Pyramid text the value is 5449. This is the height in inches of the Great Pyramid!

The ancient Egyptians called it the “Pillar of Enoch.” Enoch’s “fingerprint’s” are all over it. Did you ever wonder why Enoch lived 365 years? The same number of days in our solar year. More precisely if you go to the Apocryphal book of Enoch, he lived 365 years 88 days and 9 hours. Or 365.242 years. You see, God had it planned that way. He made Enoch live the exact length of our solar year and then he took him. But Where? Normally you could express someone’s life from birth to death with a straight line. But with Enoch you can’t. His line would be a circle and if you take 365.242 years and reduced them to sacred inches you get the Enoch circle. This same circle can be measured in the Anti-chamber within the King’s chamber complex. It is a “Map” room that gives you the key to interpreting the whole message in the Pyramid. One inch equals one year, as in Enoch’s life.

Genesis 5:21-24
And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Hebrews 11:5
By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him;” for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Jude 1:14-15
Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.

We first learn of Enoch in Genesis 5 but it leaves us with questions. Hebrews 11 has the answers and Jude quotes Enoch! How did Jude come to know the words of Enoch? They are not in the Bible. The answer of course, is The Book of Enoch. A book which is actually quoted by Jude in the New Testament. What is the Book of Enoch and where did it come from?

More Scriptures

1 Peter 2:3-10
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Job 38:4-11
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; [Yeshua]  When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

Psalm 118:17-24
I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD: This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner[Yeshua] This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Isaiah 28:15-18
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. [Yeshua] Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

Acts 4:8-12
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. [Yeshua] Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
