China Preparing for War and Few Notice By Chuck Baldwin (September 23, 2005) - Ever since President Richard Nixon entered into detente with the communist regime in China, America has doggedly assisted in the commercial and military buildup of the Marxist nation. Both Republican and Democratic administrations have mollycoddled the Red Chinese to the point that now they have grown big enough to cause serious concern. Both Bill Clinton and G.W. Bush have facilitated the transfers of billions of dollars of commercial assistance to Red China, not to mention vast amounts of technology which China has used to further its military machine. Each president refuses to identify China as an adversary, choosing rather to call it a “trading partner.” However, China has not been hesitant to use this assistance to construct a formidable military apparatus. At the same time, the U.S. seems determined to reduce our military, especially our navy, to dangerously low levels. For example, since Ronald Reagan left office, the United States has reduced its navy from a fleet of 600 ships and submarines to 288 and shrinking. To give the reader an idea of just how small our navy has become, our current navy fleet is equal in size to that when William Howard Taft was in office! Beyond that, our carrier fleet is on its way to the elephant graveyard. Three of the five in service were built before 1975. Consider, too, that the number of fighter aircraft has dropped to fewer than 3,500 and is expected to fall to under 2,000. However, while the United States continues to mothball its military, Communist China is (with America’s help) building its military like there is no tomorrow. The Washington Times recently reported that “China soon will receive a new Kilo submarine from Russia,” part of a naval buildup of modern warships and submarines that has triggered new fears for U.S. military planners. more...

Financial Jihad (September 22, 2005) - “A universal Islamic banking system is a jihad worth pursuing to abolish this slavery [to the West],” former Malaysian Prime Minister Mohamed Mahathir told a banking conference in Kuala Lumpur in November 2002. The conference was convened following the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. “to absorb the 11 September shock and reinforce the stability of Islamic finance.” Representatives of nine Islamic nations gathered to set up an Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) to “act as a global authority for Islamic banking and finance” and to compete with secular U.S. and international banking regulatory agencies. Since 2002, internationally and domestically the Islamic impetus to impose Sharia-governed banking on the West has only increased. Today, the Lariba American Finance House, based in Pasadena, California, operates its Islamic banking services in 28 states, modeled on the Sharia’aa Foundation guidelines of “His Eminence” Sheikh Yusuf al Qaradawi. The good sheikh endorses suicide bombing, wife-beating—and attacks against America. Lariba also sells Islamic mortgages to Fannie Mae. In the investment markets, Dow Jones has since February 1999 operated the Dow Jones Islamic Markets indexes, which measure the market activity of “shariaa compliant” stocks. Advising the financial news organization on Sharia is a Board whose members include Syria's Abdul Sattar Abu Ghuddah, Pakistan’s Taqi Usmani and Yusuf Talal DeLorenzo of the United States. Abu Ghuddah and Taqi Usmani are also on the Shari’a Board of Al Baraka Investment and Development Corporation. The victims of 9/11 allege that this bank financed al Qaeda; although charges against the bank were dismissed, the victims contend that the bank, together with Saudi officials and businessmen, facilitated the attacks on America. more...

America Going Down ~ It has Begun! (September 22, 2005) - As I gaze out over the United States and the world, and as I watch people scrambling for cover, and all of the anguish and pain, I cry inside. The people of America have abandoned the only hope they ever had, they have turned their back upon their creator, the one who gave them all of their blessings. New Orleans, according to the mayor of that city, was a party town. No mention that New Orleans, and many other American cities are actually cesspools of RANK and GROSS SIN. When 911 hit, did Americans repent? Not at all, they raised their fists in the air and cried “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”. God should bless a nation of perverts? He should bless a people that put millions of babies in the womb to the knife? He should bless a nation filled with adulterers? He should bless a nation where the United States Supreme Court tells everyone that Jesus Christ is AN OUTCAST? He should bless a nation where corruption at all levels of government has reached epidemic proportions? He should bless a people that pay only lip service to Him? I don't think so!! LET’S GET REAL, PEOPLE!! Did it ever occur to them that there is a REAL ACTUAL GOD OUT THERE? A God that has the power to STOP any event if He so chooses? Or to ALLOW ANY EVENT that He decides to ALLOW? Have the American people slid so far down into the cesspools of sin and degradation that they cannot even begin to COMPREHEND what is going on? The answer is simple: YES!!! more...

Is Iran preparing for a US war? Link Lost (September 22, 2005) - Incredible though it may sound, there are signs that Tehran may be preparing for a military confrontation with the United States and has convinced itself that it could win. The first sign came last June with the election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as president of the Islamic republic, an event that completed the conquest of all levers of power by the most radical elements of the establishment. Since then the revolutionary factions have conducted a little publicized purge of the military, the security, the civil service, state-owned corporations and media. The most significant purges have affected the military high command. Among those replaced are the defense minister, the commander-in-chief of the regular army and his four deputies, 11 senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and five commanders of the paramilitary Mobilization of the Dispossessed. Some of the purged officers have been ‘parked’ in a mysterious new organ called The Defense Guidance Commission attached to the office of the ‘Supreme Guide’ Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The minister of intelligence and security and the minister of the interior, who controls the police and the gendarmerie, have also been replaced. Another sign that Tehran may be preparing for war is the appointment of military officers to posts normally held by civilians, such as governors, mayors and directors of major public corporations. But, perhaps, the surest sign yet is the military build-up under way in the five provinces bordering Iraq. The region, with a population of 20 million, has been put under the control of the IRGC which has also taken over units of the regular army, including the 88th Division and the border police. Iran is estimated to have 250,000 troops in the area, its biggest military build-up since the end of the Iran-Iraq war in 1988. more...

More than 1,000 missing after South Asian storm (September 21, 2005) - At least 800 people remained missing in southern India on Wednesday and hundreds of fishermen were unaccounted for in Bangladesh after a severe storm in the Bay of Bengal killed 50 people, officials said. Indian authorities said about 100,000 people were homeless after heavy rains this week caused floods in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh state, with strong winds uprooting thousands of trees and electricity poles. They had earlier said more than 1,000 people were missing in the state, including scores of fishermen, but some of them had returned to shore. “Of the over 1,000 missing people, 150-200 fishermen have been traced and are safe,” top state disaster management official Shashank Goel told Reuters. more...

World silent after Muslim gang attacks ‘Palestinian’ Christian village (September 13, 2005) - It ain’t just the Jews, folks. A sustained assault on Arab Christians has led to their fleeing the birthplace of Christianity. The likely result will be reduced to empty church buildings and a congregation-less hierarchy with no flock. What some observers are calling a pogrom took place near Ramallah, West Bank, on the night of Sep. 3-4. That’s when fifteen Muslim youths from one village, Dair Jarir, rampaged against Taybeh, a neighboring all-Christian village of 1,500 people. The reason for the assault? A Muslim woman from Dair Jarir, Hiyam Ajaj, 23, fell in love with her Christian boss, Mehdi Khouriyye, owner of a tailor shop in Taybeh. The couple maintained a clandestine two-year affair and she became pregnant in about March 2005. When her family learned of her condition, it murdered her. That was on about Sep. 1; unsatisfied even with this “honor killing” — for Islamic law strictly forbids non-Muslim males to have sexual relations with Muslim females — the Ajaj men sought vengeance against Khouriyye and his family. They took it two days later in an assault on Taybeh. The Ajajs and their friends broke into houses and stole furniture, jewelry, and electrical appliances. They threw Molotov cocktails at some buildings and poured kerosene on others, then torched them. The damage included at least 16 houses, some stores, a farm, and a gas station. The assailants vandalized cars, looted extensively, and destroyed a statue of the Virgin Mary. “It was like a war,” one Taybeh resident told The Jerusalem Post. Hours passed before the Palestinian Authority security and fire services arrived. The fifteen assailants spent only a few hours in police detention, then were released. As for Khouriyye, the Palestinian police arrested him, kept him jail, and (his family says) have repeatedly beat him. more...

Netanyahu pushes impeachment of PM (September 23, 2005) - As the Likud prepares for the big confrontation Monday evening between Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and party leader hopeful Binyamin Netanyahu, MKs both in and out of the Likud have been determining their allegiance. Israel Radio reported that Netanyahu has been meeting with Knesset members in an attempt to get together a blocking body of 61 representatives to impeach the prime minister in the event that Sharon decides to leave the Likud or dissolve the Knesset. Netanyahu met both Likud and non-Likud parliamentarians over the last few days for the purpose of gathering the required majority. Among these were Shinui’s Eliezer Sandberg and former Shinui member Yosef Paritzki. Paritzki described the meeting: “What we discussed is that if a no-confidence vote will be held, would I vote in favor or against it? I stated explicitly that I would vote no-confidence for the purpose of bringing down the government headed by Ariel Sharon. Within the family we try to help each other, just like any good family.” Sources close to Netanyahu responded that bringing down the government was not discussed in the meetings, but rather, only the course of action to be taken should Sharon attempt to dissolve the Knesset. According to Israel Radio, Sandberg asserted that his “meeting with Netanyahu was incidental, and that Shinui prefers bringing down the government over replacing prime ministers within the Likud.” more...

Israel: Al-Qaida likely in Gaza (September 23, 2005) - Israel has information al-Qaida-linked members likely infiltrated the Gaza Strip while its border with Egypt was opened last week, senior security officials told WND. “Militants linked to Hezbollah, al-Qaida and other international terror groups are now very likely in Gaza,” said a senior security official. “The groups had set up bases in the Sinai that are still functioning, and we have information indicating members managed to get inside Gaza. These are people with advanced knowledge in specific kinds of deadly attacks and explosions.” The statements also were made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev, who said, “We’re talking about Iran, we’re talking elements in Syria, we’re talking about groups like Hezbollah and we’re talking also about international terrorist groups like al-Qaida,” referring to terrorists crossing into Gaza. more...

Russia, EU in Deadlock Over Iran Atomic Ambitions (September 23, 2005) - For two years, France, Britain and Germany have tried to persuade the Islamic republic that it needs to abandon its nuclear fuel program to convince the world that its atomic ambitions are peaceful as Tehran insists they are. While these talks continued, the EU trio, Russia, China and other board members of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) repeatedly rejected Washington’s attempts to bring Iran’s case to the highest U.N. body, which could impose sanctions. Last month, the talks collapsed after Tehran restarted uranium processing and rejected an EU offer of economic and political incentives if it scrapped its uranium enrichment program, prompting the EU trio to join Washington in calling for the case to be sent to the Security Council. But the Western drive to haul a defiant Iran before the Council has met fierce resistance by two permanent, veto-wielding members of the Security Council -- China and Russia. “We are decisively opposed to an artificial exacerbation of the situation, including the transfer of this question to the U.N. Security Council,” Russia’s IAEA ambassador Grigory Berdennikov told the IAEA board at a closed-door meeting. Bowing to Russian and Chinese pressure, France, Britain and Germany dropped a demand from their draft IAEA resolution that would force the board to report Iran now to the U.N. Security Council over fears it wants atom bombs, EU diplomats said. Rather than sending the case immediately to the Security Council, the new draft obliges the board to send the matter to U.N. headquarters in New York at a later, undefined date. Russia rejected this second version, saying it refused to allow the issue to go before the Security Council at all. “This text is like a plane that cannot fly,” Berdennikov was quoted as saying by Russia’s Interfax news agency. more...

Kabbalist Urges Jews to Israel Ahead of Upcoming Disasters (September 22, 2005) - Israel’s leading known Kabbalistic Elder, Rabbi Yitzchak Kaduri called upon worldwide Jewry Tuesday night to return to Israel due to natural disasters which threaten to strike the world. In a class between the Mincha (afternoon) and Maariv (evening) prayers at his Jerusalem yeshiva seminary, Rabbi Kaduri issued the following call:

“This declaration I find fitting to issue for all of the Jews of the world to hear. It is incumbent upon them to return to the Land of Israel due to terrible natural disasters which threaten the world. In the future, the Holy One, Blessed be He, will bring about great disasters in the countries of the world to sweeten the judgements of the Land of Israel. I am ordering the publication of this declaration as a warning, so that Jews in the countries of the world will be aware of the impending danger and will come to the Land of Israel for the buliding of the Temple and revelation of our righteous Mashiach (Messiah).” Rabbi Kaduri also stated that the upcoming year would be a year of “secret and revelation” in the world. The Jewish year 5766 begins in less than three weeks, with the holiday of Rosh Hashana. The Rabbi explained that the numerical Hebrew abbreviation for 5766, taf, shin, samech, vav gives insight into the nature of the upcoming year. “This will be a year of secret (or sod, from the letter samech) and revelation (or v’giliu from the letter vav). Arutz Sheva Israel National Radio show host Yehoshua Meiri first publicized the declaration on his Hebrew radio show late Tuesday night. Meiri typed out the words of Rabbi Kaduri’s declaration and presented them back to the Rabbi who signed on the document. Associates of Rabbi Kaduri were dispatched to communicate the Kabbalistic Elder’s call to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon before the latter’s departure to the United States later the same night. Meiri says he will publicize the signed declaration after Prime Minister Sharon delivers a speech in the U.S., in which he is expected to call upon the Jews of the Diaspora to make Aliyah (immigrate) to Israel. more...

Russia tells West to step back over Iran A-bomb (September 22, 2005) - Russia put up a defensive wall around Iran yesterday, saying no action should be taken over moves that western countries fear amount to a covert attempt by Teheran to make an atomic bomb. The announcement could derail a move by Britain, France and Germany to report Iran to the United Nations Security Council over its refusal to come clean about key aspects of its nuclear programme. As the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan threw their weight behind the diplomatic campaign, Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, said the move would be “counter-productive”. His position threatens to split the governing council of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is meeting in Vienna this week, into a confrontation of “the West v the rest”. Western countries believe they have a majority on the board to push through a British-drafted resolution calling for “Iran’s many failures and breaches of its obligation” to comply with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to be reported to the Security Council. But they fear that unless they have an understanding with Moscow, the issue will be blocked by a Russian veto in the council and open up another damaging international rift. “While Iran is co-operating with the IAEA, while it is not enriching uranium and observing a moratorium, while IAEA inspectors are working in the country, it would be counter-productive to report this question to the UN Security Council,” Mr Lavrov said. “It would lead to an unnecessary politicising of the situation. Iran is not violating its obligations and its actions do not threaten the non-proliferation regime.” Iran insists that it seeks to develop nuclear energy for only peaceful purposes. But Peter Jenkins, the British ambassador to the IAEA, told the board that Iran’s attempts to master the ability to make uranium and plutonium, which can be used as fissile material for atomic bombs, “has neither an economic nor a technical rationale”. He added: “We therefore regret, and feel deeply concerned by the fact that Iran gives every sign of being intent on developing a fissile material production capability well before the international community obtains what it needs: confidence that Iran's programme is exclusively peaceful in nature.” more...

Cold snap kills 30 in Mongolia (September 21, 2005) - Cold weather has killed 30 people in isolated, wind-swept Mongolia where temperatures have plummeted from a warm 23 degrees Celsius to well below zero. Most of the victims in the capital, Ulan Bator, were found at the weekend on the streets and at bus stops. Many street children living in Ulan Bator sleep under manholes near the Soviet-era water pipes to keep warm through the bitter winters. After a sunny and relatively warm introduction to autumn, temperatures dropped from 23 Celcius to minus 10 Celcius in some parts of the country, followed by snow storms. In Ulan Bator, temperatures dropped to minus 6 Celcius.

Mysterious ‘Ball Of Fire’ Seen In Fla. Skies (September 21, 2005) - Dozens of people from Jacksonville to Ft. Pierce flooded the U.S. Coast Guard late Tuesday with calls about a mysterious ball of fire seen flying in the sky, according to a Local 6 News report. Callers flooded the newsroom of Local 6 News partner Florida Today after they saw the object over the Space Coast Tuesday night. “Starting at about 7:30 last night, we started receiving calls here in the newsroom,” Florida Today online news editor Dave Larimer said. “In fact, the Coast Guard station in Port Canaveral got more than two dozen reports of people seeing a bright light in the sky over the ocean.” From Fort Pierce to about five miles south of Jacksonville, reports came in to Coast Guard offices starting about 7:30 p.m., said Dan Yates, a Coast Guard petty officer in Port Canaveral. Yates said one caller who was walking his dog near the Sebastian Inlet described the object as “huge, like a giant fireball.” Yates said callers to the Coast Guard station thought a boater might have been in trouble. “A lot of people thought it might have been a flare that might have gone up,” Yates said of other callers. “One person thought this fire ball went into the ocean,” Larimer said. “The Coast Guard said it probably didn’t and it was just his perspective. We know it was not a rocket launch and we know the Air Force was not doing anything.” Experts said it could be a piece of space junk or a large meteor burning up in the atmosphere. more...

Insurgents ‘Inside Iraqi Police’ (September 21, 2005) - Speaking on the BBC’s Newsnight programme, he said he had no idea how far they have already been undermined. It comes after the British Army said it was forced to take action to free two UK soldiers after learning Iraqi police had handed them to a militia group. The Pentagon warned in July that Iraq's police force was recruiting insurgents.

‘Clean up police’

The Iraqi government has launched an inquiry into events surrounding the arrest of the British soldiers on Monday, both thought to be members of the SAS elite special forces. Iraq's interior ministry ordered the police force in the southern city of Basra to release the soldiers - but that order was ignored. The arrest of British soldiers in Basra sparked violent clashes The British Army confirmed the troops had been handed over by police to a Shia militia group. Mr Rubaie told Newsnight: “Our Iraqi security forces in general, and these in particular and in many parts of Iraq, I have to admit that they have been penetrated by some of the insurgents, some of the terrorists as well, so I can’t deny this.” more...

The influx of Palestinian long-range Qassam, anti-tank, anti-air missiles and terrorists entering Gaza from Sinai swelled Monday a week after it began (September 20, 2005) - Palestinian security forces posted to halt the illegal traffic helped it through instead. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the scale of the weapons transfers expanded most in the Rafah area where two battalions of the Palestinian Authority’s crack Force 17 troops charged a hefty toll in cash which they pocketed for letting the weapons through. On orders from Jerusalem, the IDF continues to bide its time as though expecting the Egyptian and Palestinians to assert control over the lawless traffic transiting the Egyptian-Gazan border unchecked.

Pope bans homosexuals from ordination as priests (September 20, 2005) - Pope Benedict XVI has given his approval to a new Vatican policy document that bans men with homosexual tendencies from being ordained as priests, reports Catholic World News. The policy statement is a direct result of the pope’s concern about the pedophilia scandal in the church – especially in the U.S. The new document, prepared by the Congregation for Catholic Education in response to a request made by the late Pope John Paul II in 1994, will be published soon. It will take the form of an “Instruction,” signed by the prefect and secretary of the congregation: Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski and Archbishop Michael Miller, according to the report. The report was first referenced on Joseph Farah's nationally syndicated radio program last week by Raymond Arroyo, author of the new book “Mother Angelica: The Remarkable Story of a Nun, Her Nerve and a Network of Miracles.” Arroyo has covered the papacy more than any other journalist. The text, approved by Benedict at the end of August, says that homosexual men should not be admitted to seminaries even if they are celibate, because their condition suggests a serious personality disorder that detracts from their ability to serve as ministers, says the CWN report.

New Israeli Stem Cell Research Reveals Umbilical Cord Blood as a Way to Rejuvenate Damaged Heart Tissue (September 23, 2005) - In a report by Israel 21c, Israeli researchers are now developing a way to utilize the stem cells that come from a baby’s discarded umbilical cord, to possibly regenerate damaged heart tissue. The procedure may even make the need for heart transplants obsolete. Professor Jonathan Leor, a pioneer of Umbilical Cord Blood (UCB) research and director of the Neufeld Cardiac Research Institute in Tel Aviv said, “UCB cells are readily available, are used in patients with hematologic disorders including genetic diseases and hematologic malignancies, and have many advantages that are relevant to cell therapy for cardiac healing and repair.” more...

Supermodel, Actress, Designer Kathy Ireland Speaks on Her Relationship with God - “He’s my Lord and Savior, my best friend” (September 23, 2005) - Kathy Ireland is perhaps best known for her extensive modeling career, gracing the covers of hundreds of the top magazines. She has also nurtured her acting abilities, appearing in both big screen films and on TV, as well as designing her own line of apparel. But many may not be familiar with her most important roles; those of wife, mother and Sunday School teacher. Following the Seventh Annual Media Fellowship Awards Weekend Praise Breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Ireland was the keynote speaker, Kathy spoke with Dan Wooding of ANS. “I have learned so many things the hard way and made so many mistakes,” said Kathy. “But the key really [is] priorities; it’s putting God first, keeping your eyes on Him.

“I would ask people to please not make the mistakes that I made if you can avoid it. Don’t try to rationalize and just kind of cherry pick verses from the Bible. You know, I would pick verses that I liked that I felt spoke to me and then others that I would see that I didn’t like, I would just think it was a typo or just didn’t relate to me somehow.

“I was really trying to mold God into what I wanted Him to be rather than allowing Him to mold me into the person He created me to be. The key is to just giving over that control to Him every day and not be afraid.

“I mean, when God is with us who can be against us? He’s my Lord and Savior, my best friend, and I regret that I haven’t always been a great friend to Him, but that’s my goal; that every day I would draw closer and closer and that my actions would be more and more according with His will. I fall short every day, but that’s my goal.” more...

Pakistan’s Musharraf Speaks at Ground-Breaking Meeting with American Jews (September 20, 2005) - Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf is the first leader of a Muslim nation that has no diplomatic ties with Israel to hold a public dialogue with Jewish leaders, according to a report today from the BBC. The historic address began in New York with the breaking of bread and prayers from the Koran being recited, three days after Musharraf shook hands with Israel’s prime minister at the U.N. The report notes that the president was given a standing ovation as he arrived for the meeting “at which he called for the establishment of a Palestinian state to end violence in the Middle East and bring security to Israel.” “Israel must come to terms with geopolitical realities and allow justice to prevail for the Palestinians,” he said, while also criticizing Islamic society for “failing to embrace modernity.” “I am convinced that peace in Palestine that does justice to both the Israelis and the Palestinians will bring to a close the sad chapter in the history of the Middle East [and] will revive the historical ties between Islam and Judaism.” more...

South African Ambassador Sees Israelis As “Loving People” (September 20, 2005) - South African Ambassador Major General Fumanekile Gqiba was “publicly humiliated and treated in a racist manner” by a border control official at Ben-Gurion Airport in Israel recently, according to a report in Haaretz. But the insulted ambassador holds no grudges and blamed the press for making a mountain out of a mole hill. Gqiba several people at the gym in the Azrieli Center, where he works out four mornings a week before going to the embassy apologized to him. “They told me they didn’t even know I was an ambassador until they saw my picture in the paper,” he said. “[Their response] shows the other side of Israel, the positive side. Israelis are often painted as very arrogant, but the people here are actually very soft, loving people who like life.” This week Gqiba said he is maintaining his decision to make any complaints related to the incident through official channels only, adding he was satisfied with the apology he had received from the Foreign Ministry and the Israel Airports Authority, which promised a thorough investigation into what happened. more...

Sharon, EU—Signs of the Prophetic Times (September 20, 2005) - The prophecies of Daniel and Zechariah may well be in play as Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon faces a career-ending political battle and Israel is seriously considering inviting the European Union into Gaza to police the Egyptian-Gaza borders. The remarks of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon before American Jewish leaders in New York last Sunday couldn’t help but to have a prophetic undertone. The embattled Israeli leader, who has taken tremendous criticism for being the first Jewish leader to evict Jews from their own property in Gaza and the West Bank, admitted that he had tremendous political problems. Sharon earned applause from the audience when he said at the beginning of his remarks, “I have to go back to solve some of the internal problems I am facing. I have been gone for about a week, and I have to go back if you want me to come back in my present capacity.” Indeed, the heat is on. Like his American counterpart President George W. Bush, Sharon’s popularity has declined immensely since the Gaza evacuation. Iran Making Its End Times Move As Supported By Russia, China, India - Bill Wilson (September 20, 2005) - Telltale signs of Iran’s intent to develop its nuclear capabilities and share them with the rest of the Islamic world emerged last week at the United Nations, while at the same time, Russia, China and even India have discouraged the United States and its European allies from aggressively pursuing U.N. Security Council action against the Persian Empire. Speaking before the United Nations in New York, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his country had an “unalienable right” to pursue a nuclear program He said that the United States and European Union negotiators—Britain, France and Germany—were employing a propaganda campaign to wrongly accuse Iran of having non-peaceful intentions with its nuclear program. Ahmadinejad, however, seemed to be using the United Nations as a soapbox for his own brand of propaganda. Incredible Parallels Between Israel and the U.S. Evacuations - Bill Koenig [From the Sept. 9 Koenig's Eye View] - Here is the beginning of parallels between Israel and the U.S. evacuations. We are discovering more each week. We will keep adding to this in the coming weeks.
Below are President Bush’s statements pertaining to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Israel’s completion of their disengagement evacuation. These excerpts are from speeches on Aug. 22–23.

President Honors Veterans of Foreign Wars at National Convention Salt Palace Convention Center – Salt Lake City, Utah – Aug. 22, 2005

Note: The following is an excerpt from President Bush’s speech pertaining to Israel.

In the heart of the Middle East, a hopeful story is unfolding. After decades of shattered promises and stolen lives, peace is within reach in the Holy Land. The Palestinian people have expressed their desire for sovereignty and peace in free and fair elections. President Abbas has rejected violence and taken steps toward democratic reform. This past week, Prime Minister Sharon and the Israeli people took a courageous and painful step by beginning to remove settlements in Gaza and parts of the northern West Bank. The Israeli disengagement is an historic step that reflects the bold leadership of Prime Minister Sharon.

Both Israelis and Palestinians have elected governments committed to peace and progress, and the way forward is clear. We’re working for a return to the road map. We’re helping the Palestinians to prepare for self-government and to defeat terrorists who attack Israel, and terrorists who oppose the establishment of a peaceful Palestinian state. We’re providing $50 million in direct assistance to the Palestinians for new housing and infrastructure projects in Gaza. We remain fully committed to defending the security and well-being of our friend and ally, Israel, and we demand an end to terrorism and violence in every form, because we know that progress toward peace depends on an end to terror. We’ll continue working for the day when the map of the Middle East shows two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, living side-by-side in peace and security.

Outdoor Enthusiasts Create a Waterproof “Outdoor Bible” (September 20, 2005) - Outdoor enthusiasts Bobby Bardin and Michael Marsee have developed a waterproof, tear-resistant Bible called The Outdoor Bible, perfect for campers, hunters, fishermen, athletes and “hammock swingers with iced tea in hand.” “I have always loved to be in God’s creation, exposed to the elements,” Bardin said, “and I have often desired to have my Bible by my side for reading here and there.” But, he admitted, he rarely took his Bible with him because he didn’t want it to get wet or ripped up. Bardin particularly remembered trying to lead a mountaintop worship service in Vail, Colorado, wishing his Bible was waterproof. “It was my first year to lead mountaintop worship services with Alpine Resort Ministry,” he recalled, and “I remember trying to read Scripture on those snowy Sundays while huge snowflakes melted onto the pages.” more...
