E.U.’s Javier Solana In Israel (July 19, 2006) - EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana arrived in Israel Wednesday with suggestions that Israel “act proportionately” and with excuses as to why the EU does not consider Hizbullah a terror group. In a statement following what he called a “frank” meeting with Israel’s Foreign Minister Tzippy Livni, Solana condemned the kidnapping of three IDF soldiers, but said he recommended that Israel “act proportionately” in its attacks on Hizbullah and do everything to avoid hurting Lebanese civilians. The EU emissary said that in such a manner, Israel would be able to win the hearts of the citizens of southern Lebanon. Solana made a veiled reference to Syria and Iran, calling for such countries with influence over Hizbullah to use it. “I’d like to say also very clearly: those that may have influence to help solve this problem - they have to do it soon - immediately,” Solana said. Asked about the EU’s refusal to classify Hizbullah as a terrorist group, Solana said that the EU does not possess sufficient data to determine whether the group can be included on its list of terrorist organizations. He insisted that the issue was a legal one and not a moral one. Later in the day, Solana met with Defense Minister Amir Peretz, who told the EU official: “We are standing strong on the principle that Hizbullah must retreat from the border. We will not stand for a situation in which the Hizbullah flag waves on our border.” Peretz also defended Israel’s attacks on Lebanese targets. “The Lebanese government is the sovereign,” he said, “and has to take responsibility for what happens in its territory.” Solana also met with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert earlier in the day, but no information on the content of the meeting has been released.

We Soon Shall See (July 18, 2006) - How many time have you heard it was wrong to let current events interpreter Bible prophecy? The next thing you know, the person making that statement does exactly that. How? By looking at the situation that they think they see in the world, instead of looking at the prophecies that may have been fulfilled. In fact, that’s one reason I believe so many of today’s end-time ministries may be so far behind the curve as to what's actually going on both politically and prophetically. The current crisis in the Middle East is an example. If you only listen to the news reports and the statements coming from our world’s leaders, you may think we still have a ways to go before the final prophecies can be fulfilled. However, it you look at the prophecies that may have already been fulfilled, the whole picture suddenly changes. The final events of history may already be in sight. It’s amazing how just a little piece of wrong information can have such a large blinding effect. Take for example our interpretation of who the little horn is in Daniel chapter eight. If we believe it’s referring to the coming Antichrist, we may be expecting to see a 10 nation alliance appear in the Eastern leg of the old Roman Empire. If, however, we believe as I do -- that chapter eight of Daniel is referring to the Greek kingdom and the rise of Antiochus Epipanes, we may be open to the idea that the 10 nation alliance could appear in Western Europe. And, you will naturally take special notice of the 10-nation Western European Union.

Here’s my point: No matter how we believe about Bible prophecy, we may have already been witness to seven possible fulfillments out of ten that were foretold. We have seen:

What are the three prophecies yet remaining? If we've seen the fulfillment of the first seven, we should expect to see:

So, am I allowing current events to interpret the prophecies? Or, am I allowing the prophecies to interpret current events. We soon shall see Read about it here And here. Are you ready?

News Corp., DirecTV take broadband to the Max (July 18, 2006) - News Corp.’s zealous embrace of interactivity soon will reach way beyond the runaway success of the social networking Web site MySpace when its majority-owned DirecTV decides on a path and partners for creating a national WiMax network. Approval is imminent for the project that could take at least two years and $2 billion, providing News Corp. and DirecTV a valuable wireless interactive broadband loop with consumers to directly sell content, advertising, goods and services. WiMax is a wireless a broadband technology often referred to as “WiFi on steroids” with a much wider 30-mile range than the more limited access offered by WiFi services. WiMax, which is short for World Interoperability for Microwave Access, also promises to provide more security and speed than traditional wireless connections. “If we can pull something off ... there is no reason why that shouldn’t link in with everything,” News Corp. chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch said in a recent interview. “I would expect to have wireless broadband advanced in at least two or three cities before the end of this year, and then it might take two or three years to build it out across the entire country,” Murdoch said. more...

Do you suppose this technology could be used in the near future in conjuction with RFID to track people and property across the globe? There is already RFID WiFi integration such that when you pass by a reader over WiFi, any location in the world connected to the network can track that ID to that specific place on the globe where it was accessed. Turkey Signals It’s Prepared To Enter Iraq (July 18, 2006) - Turkish officials signaled Tuesday they are prepared to send the army into northern Iraq if U.S. and Iraqi forces do not take steps to combat Turkish Kurdish guerrillas there - a move that could put Turkey on a collision course with the United States. Turkey is facing increasing domestic pressure to act after 15 soldiers, police and guards were killed fighting the guerrillas in southeastern Turkey in the past week. “The government is really in a bind,” said Seyfi Tashan, director of the Foreign Policy Institute at Bilkent University in Ankara. “On the one hand, they don't want things to break down with the United States. On the other hand, the public is crying for action.” Diplomats and experts cautioned the increasingly aggressive Turkish statements were likely aimed at calming public anger and pressing the U.S. and Iraq to act against the Turkish Kurdish guerrillas. But they also said Turkish politicians and military officers could act if nothing is done. more...

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a tactic to get the US focused more on Iraq again while Islam prepares to assault Israel. I think there are many levels within the control structure of Islam that uses the little people as pawns without regard for their life or well-being for the greater cause of Islam. They’re brainwashed to accept it that way. There is also much in-fighting within Islam which is a telling aspect of Lucifer’s hand in the creation and running of this religion. Not all Muslims are bad, but all people are brain-washable. It’s simple because the best brainwashing tool is to restrict knowledge to only what you tell them. If you have children taught this from an age where they know nothing else, then you have a grown-up who is willing to strap explosives to their chest and blow up civilians in a mall. It’s effective, and Satanic. I said all that to say that we should be wary of the distractions that come up while Islam is attacking Israel. Be alert and aware of the truth of the matter.

Turkey Boosts Its Role as Strategic Energy Hub (July 18, 2006) - The name of the game for energy-consuming countries these days is risk reduction. To prevent interruptions in the delivery of oil and natural gas, countries and energy companies are looking to diversify their suppliers and delivery routes. And for the U.S. and Europe, that’s increasingly translating into finding alternatives to Russia and Iran. Enter Turkey. The Mideastern country that straddles Europe and Asia is suddenly gaining strategic importance as a safety valve for the West’s energy supply. On July 13, a BP-led consortium opened the tap on a long-awaited $4 billion pipeline that runs from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean. Bypassing Russian and Iranian territory, the 1,100-mile [1,760 km] pipeline snakes from Baku, Azerbaijan to Tbilisi, Georgia, and across Turkey to the coastal city of Ceyhan. “This is one of those turning points in history,” says Mike Bilbo, director of communications and external affairs for BP (BP) in Turkey. “It changed the picture for Turkey overnight.” By his reckoning, existing shipping arrangements through the Bosporus Straits plus the new pipeline mean that 5% of the world’s oil now traverses Turkey. more...

The Nation of Islam and the Freemasons (July 18, 2006) - I’ve been taking a closer look at the writings of Wesley Williams, and I am shocked. I had no idea the Nation of Islam was so enmeshed with Freemasonry. Enmeshed is an understatement, the two are basically one and the same. Looking at his “The Book of God”, he basically sets the history of the occult in reverse, where it is the “true Islam”. Everything is there. The “Sons of God” or Nephilim, also the Fallen Angels, are God, a man, and his council. They have been guiding the select of humanity ever since. He even places them in “Shamballah” in the Gobi desert, being the same as the “Great White Brotherhood”, or the “Hidden Chiefs” of “Hidden Masters” of the occult. The entire history of the occult is co-opted to his version of Islam, including Gnosticism, the Templars and Cathars, and the Holy Grail. He invokes Masonic historian Manly P. Hall as a source, and also Blavatsky, an avowed Satanist. He even has a chapter about the “Masonic secret”, which he correctly explains is that “Man is God”. more...

Approximately 100 Million American Church Members Have Very Little to No Understanding of Bible Prophecy - Today there are approximately 100 million American church members who have very little to no understanding of Bible prophecy. These church members are from replacement theology churches that don’t teach Bible prophecy and who look at prophetic scriptures as allegorical and not literal. Consequently, they do not understand the importance of Israel to the God of Israel or God’s redemptive plan for Israel and the nations. (To Read “The Error of Replacement Theology” - By Clarence H. Wagner Jr. click here.) These church members also have no understanding of the biblical significance of what is transpiring today in Israel, Russia, China, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey, and in other Middle East nations. They are also not aware of the significance of the formation of the European Union, new ID technologies and much more. I have shared the biblical significance of our times with some of these people and almost all of them can’t process the information mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. And due to fear they do not want to hear more. They also have no point of reference in which to start if they had interest. The good news is those who understand Bible prophecy are fully aware of the significance of Israel, God’s time clock, and are watching the times with great interest and expectancy. more...

Israelis say offensive could last weeks (July 18, 2006) - Israeli warplanes struck an army base outside Beirut in new bombings that killed 16 people, and Hezbollah fired more rockets at northern Israel, killing an Israeli, casting a shadow over diplomatic efforts to stem the escalating violence. An Israeli general said the campaign against the guerrillas could take weeks. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told a visiting U.N. delegation that “Israel will continue to combat Hezbollah and will continue to strike targets of the group” until captured soldiers are released and Israeli citizens are safe from attacks. Foreigners fled the week-old conflict by the hundreds, although anger rose among thousands of Americans frustrated by the slow pace of U.S. evacuation efforts. A U.S. destroyer escorted a passenger ship, the Orient Queen, toward Beirut to evacuate some of the thousands of Americans still in Lebanon, but U.S. officials said it was uncertain when it would arrive. At least 120 Americans were ferried out by helicopters. U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey D. Feltman told The Associated Press said 1,000 people would leave each day starting Wednesday. more...

Iranian President Ahmadinejad: Day of happiness for region near (July 18, 2006) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday, “The day of happiness for the region is near… The world is on the verge of great changes,” according to the Iranian news agency. Ahmadinejad added that he considered Israel’s operation in Lebanon “a type of playing with fire.”

Does he know something about plans that will soon come to pass which will bring about his goal of wiping out Israel? Given the current situation and his declarations, that would seem to be what would supply this happiness. Of course we know that Israel will be safe until the abomination of desolation, and that requires the Jewish temple first. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5 | Revelation 11:1,2

Confirmed: Hezbollah Terror Operatives, “Sleeper Cells” Poised in the U.S. (July 18, 2006) - Operatives of the Lebanese Islamic terrorist organization Hezbollah, the same group presently firing missiles into Israel and labeled as one of the most dangerous Islamic terrorist group in the world, are believed “to be planning to activate sleeper cells located in New York and other larger cities inside the U.S.” to stage attacks Americans. “The FBI and Justice Department have launched urgent new probes in New York and other cities targeting members of the Lebanese terror group.” Law-enforcement and intelligence officials stated that “about a dozen hard-core supporters of Hezbollah have been identified in recent weeks as operating in the New York City area (alone).” The above appeared in an article published in The New York Post on May 22, 2006. Not surprisingly, that very same information was verified through several sources within law enforcement agencies and agents contacted by the Northeast Intelligence Network this weekend. One federal law enforcement official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated, “We are very concerned about sleeper-cell activation due to the current ‘effervescent’ situation between Hezbollah in Lebanon and Israel.” The same source confirmed that there is “active surveillance of known surveillance operatives” in New York, and added that surveillance is also being conducted by agents in other U.S. cities. The U.S. designated Hezbollah as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997 and listed it as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) in 2001. Three members of Hezbollah: Imad Mughniyeh, Hasan Izz-al-Din, and Ali Atwa, are on the FBI’s “Most Wanted Terrorists” list for their role in the 1985 hijacking of TWA Flight 847 during which a U.S. Navy diver was brutally murdered. more...

Given their hatred for non-Muslims, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are lots of sleeper cells in the US, probably a lot more than we imagine. I know I’ve never seen so many women in Muslim garb where I live before. Where there are women, there must be men that believe the same things that would cause the women to cover their whole bodies as they do. When their god tells them to do something, do you think they will? If they really believe they will. They’re brainwashed from childhood to desire death for reward. Anyone with half an understanding of how easily children can be manipulated should understand the power of this religion to cause it’s followers to do things we can’t even imagine.

Iran’s Hizbollah Says Ready To Attack US, Israel (July 17, 2006) - Iran’s Hizbollah, which claims links to the Lebanese group of the same name, said on Tuesday it stood ready to attack Israeli and U.S. interests worldwide. “We have 2,000 volunteers who have registered since last year,” said Iranian Hizbollah’s spokesman Mojtaba Bigdeli, speaking by telephone from the central seminary city of Qom. “They have been trained and they can become fully armed. We are ready to dispatch them to every corner of the world to jeopardise Israel and America’s interests. We are only waiting for the Supreme Leader’s green light to take action. If America wants to ignite World War Three ... we welcome it,” he said. Iranian religious organisations have made great public show of recruiting volunteers for “martyrdom-seeking operations” in recent years, usually threatening U.S. interests in case of any attack against the Islamic Republic’s nuclear programme. But there is no record of an Iranian volunteer from these recruitment campaigns taking part in an attack. more...

ice insists nuclear talks should go through Solana (July 17, 2006) - An Iranian initiative to end the crisis over its plans to build its own civil nuclear reactors must be handed to the six countries negotiating with Iran, US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice insisted at the G8 summit yesterday. Tehran had earlier caught the G8 by surprise by trying to involve them in the talks, after announcing that a package drafted by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany was an “acceptable basis” for discussion. Tehran’s response came four days after a July 12 deadline to respond to the offer, and after the six countries had decided to refer Iran to the Security Council. In Tehran, foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said: “The G8 has two options ahead: one is the path of logic and the other the path of extremism. We hope the G8 group will place logical recommendations on its agenda.” But Ms Rice said the Iranians should hold talks with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, who offered Iran a package of economic incentives last month in return for Tehran’s long-term suspension of uranium enrichment. Britain, France and the United States, as well as non-permanent Security Council member Germany, support economic sanctions if Iran fails to cooperate. But Russia said it would not support such measures. more...

Hmm... Everyone wants to give all their power and responsibility to Solana. I wonder why??? Revelation 17:12,13 talks about just this. Now I don’t think the U.S. is one of the 10 kings, but the same principle is there. Solana was unknown to mainstream watchers until June 6, 2006 when he delivered the G-8’s nuclear package to Tehran.

DEBKAfile: Nasrallah pleads for help and promises “the Zionists” more surprises (July 16, 2006) - Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah was on the air again 12 hours after rumors claimed he was injured in the Israeli air bombardment that flattened his 8-storey headquarters compound in Beirut Saturday night, July 15. As he began speaking, rockets hit the border town of Metula for the first time, followed by landings in Safed, Ghajar and Mt. Meron. With some pathos, the Hizballah leader said:” We are not asking anyone to help us,” – a veiled SOS to the Iranian supreme national security council meeting Sunday night on the Lebanon crisis. more...

Iran leader Ali Khameini declares Sunday: Hizbullah will never be disarmed (July 16, 2006) - DEBKAfile: This was Iran’s first direct guarantee of support for the embattled Lebanese Shiite group since hostilities were launched Wednesday, July 12. It is interpreted as a promise of weapons and, if necessary, fighting men to avert a Hizbullah defeat. DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources see also a message addressed to the Olmert government that Israel will not achieve its objectives in Lebanon or succeed in dictating new rules. Earlier, Tehran threatened Israel against attacking Syria. An Iranian spokesman said Sunday: “We are standing by the Syrian people. Israel faces “unimaginable losses”. Hizbullah was not mentioned. The Syrian government promised “a firm, direct and unlimited response to any attack by Israel.” Israeli spokesmen have reiterated that Syria is not targeted for attack but accused Iran of helping Hizbullah attack the Israeli missile boat Friday. more...

EU ‘can not wait’ for constitution (July 5, 2006) - Europe can not wait for a constitution before pushing ahead with increased EU decision-making on justice and foreign policy, Finnish leader Matti Vanhanen has told MEPs. The Finnish prime minister on Wednesday set out his priorities for Helsinki’s EU presidency to the European parliament. Finland takes the EU helm from Austria for a six month stint at the tiller before Germany takes over in the first half of 2007. Finland must keep the EU’s constitution on ice but will prepare the ground for a German “roadmap” to a new treaty by pushing current decision-making powers to the limit. Vanhanen told MEPs that EU leaders must use existing European treaties to boost streamlined decision making by reducing national vetoes in key areas such as justice. “Europe cannot afford to wait for new decision-making rules. It must start to increase the effectiveness of the way it functions now,” he said “Increasing the union’s effectiveness will require some bold decisions from Europe’s leaders and decision-makers. We cannot just think of the here and now, and the next elections.” more...

Bush Accuses Syria Of Trying To Get Back Into Lebanon (July 19, 2006) - US President George W. Bush accused Syria of trying to “get back” into Lebanon by supporting Hezbollah and accused Damascas and Iran of inspiring “terror attacks” against Israel. Bush told reporters that the “root” cause of the conflict must be addressed. “It can be addressed internationally by making it clear to Syria they’ve got to stop their support to Hezbollah,” he said, during a meeting with lawmakers at the White House. “Syria is trying to get back into Lebanon it looks like to me.” “We passed United Nations resolution 1559 and finally this young democracy or this democracy became whole by getting Syria out. “And there are suspicions that the instability created by the Hezbollah attacks will cause some in Lebanon to invite Syria back in.” Bush said the root cause of the instability was “terrorism and terrorist attacks on a democratic country,” in apparent reference to Israel. more...

IAF Foils Rocket Transports From Syria (July 19, 2006) - Although Hizbullah has suffered a harsh blow from Israeli air force strikes which took out a good percentage of their available weapons, Syria was continuing to smuggle arms into Lebanon to rearm the group, IDF Operations Branch Head Major General Gadi Eisenkot said during a press briefing Tuesday. Thus far, the IAF managed to intercept a number of trucks transporting rockets from Syria to Hizbullah, including trucks laden with the 220mm-diameter rockets with warheads like the one that hit the Haifa train depot Monday, claiming eight lives. Maj.-Gen. Eisenkot said he would be very surprised if official elements in Syria were unaware of these transports. “These are rockets that belong to the Syrian army. You can’t find them in the Damascus market, and the Syrian government is responsible for this smuggling,” Eisenkot said, but stressed, “We are not operating against Syria or the Lebanese army.” more...

And just how long will Israel sit by while Syria assists in bringing the weaponry for Hizbullah to attack Israel with? Not too long I would guess. Isaiah 17 talks about the destruction of Damascus and if that happens, Iran would jump into the fray if they honor their defense agreement with Syria.

Iran Official: No Part Of Israel Safe (July 19, 2006) - The speaker of Iran’s parliament warned Israelis on Tuesday that no part of their country is safe from Hezbollah attack. The comments by Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel called into question Tehran’s official position that it is not involved in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. “The towns you have built in northern Palestine (Israel) are within the range of the brave Lebanese children. No part of Israel will be safe,” Haddad Adel told thousands of anti-Israel demonstrators in Palestine Square. Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki indicated that Iran may be playing a covert role in the fighting when he said Monday that a cease-fire was feasible. He spoke after talks with the Syrian government in Damascus. Iran and its ally Syria are the principal backers of Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group that provoked the current fighting when its guerrillas seized two Israeli soldiers last week. On Monday, Israeli military officials said their planes had destroyed a long-range missile in Lebanon, named “Zelzal,” that Hezbollah had received from Iran. more...

Hundreds of Iranian Troops Fighting in Lebanon (July 19, 2006) - Hundreds of Iranian Revolutionary Guard personnel are on the ground in Lebanon fighting Israel, security sources say. “I have no doubt whatsoever that they are there and operating some of the equipment,” an Arab diplomatic source told The New York Sun yesterday. Another foreign source, based in Washington, said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps contingent in Lebanon is based in Beirut and in the Bekaa Valley. He said the troops usually number a few dozen, but that the size of the force increased in connection with the hostilities that have broken out between Israel and Iran’s proxy, Hezbollah, over the past week. The sources said the Iranians had directly operated a radar-guided C–802 missile that Iran acquired from Communist China and that hit an Israeli navy missile boat off the coast of Lebanon on Friday, killing four Israeli seamen. “This was a direct message to the Israelis that we are fighting the Iranians here,” the Arab diplomatic source said. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s mission in Lebanon includes keeping custody of Zalzal missiles and drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles. A report by an Israel-based research group, the Intelligence & Terrorism Information Center, identifies the units of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard “deployed and active in Lebanon” as the “Al-Quds Force.” The Lebanon-based Iranian force “provides military guidance and support for terrorist attacks against Israel,” the report says. more...

Media Cover-Up Blocks Major News Story of 2006 (July 19, 2006) - On July 5, 2006 the following exchange took place between U.S. Representative William Bilbray and William Kolender, Sheriff of San Diego County. This is an 11-second transcript of that hearing including the time markers.:

2:55:56 - Rep. Bilbray: “Do you want to break the news about three law enforcement officers concerning an incident that took place about two miles from this location in the last couple of weeks?”

2:56:02 Sheriff Kolender: “They were killed.”

2:56:04 Rep. Bilbray: “They were not only killed, they were decapitated (Beheaded) weren’t they?”

2:56:07 Sheriff Kolender: “Yes!”

Within this same time period, Private Tucker a Marine from Madras, Oregon is tortured and beheaded in Iraq. He received International press and was laid to rest in Central Oregon. In the meantime the main stream media failed to report the beheading of three law enforcement officers. Where is the outrage by the Senators Boxer, Reid, McCain, Feingold, and Kennedy. Why the silence? Why the cover-up? To make matters worse the video recording of the hearing was buried by CSPAN. No press, and the President said nothing. Iran, not Hezbollah, is True Enemy (July 17, 2006) - Iran is at the center of the emerging war between the terrorist organizations Hezbollah and Hamas against Israel. Far from being a typical or recurrent Middle East crisis, this shooting war risks the future of Israel’s survival as a nation, as well as the security of a continuing U.S. presence in the region. Through its dual surrogate terrorist organizations of Hezbollah and Hamas, Iran has begun its war to destroy Israel and to remove the U.S. from the Middle East. As I noted in writing “Atomic Iran,” Hezbollah traces its roots to Najaf in Iraq. Najaf is an important site for Shiite Islam. Here is buried the Imam Ali, whom Shi’ites consider the first convert of Muhammad and the rightful successor to the Prophet. Ayatollah Muhammed Hussein Fadlallah, the spiritual leader of Hezbollah, studied in Najaf when he was in exile from Lebanon. There he met Ayatollah Khomeini, who was also in exile, from the Shahs Iran. Even today, Iran continues to fund Hezbollah, to the tune of some $250 million a year. There are conflicting reports as to whether a drone equipped with a bomb or a C-802 cruise missile hit the Israeli missile ship off the coast of Lebanon. Either way, the evidence points to Iran. The C-802 cruise missile is today an Iranian-made weapon, built on the design of Chinese cruise missiles that Iran bought from China during the Clinton administration. Beginning in December 2005, Iran launched a series of war games in an attempt to demonstrate the country’s military prowess, signaling to the world a willingness to resist military steps that might be taken against the nation’s nuclear program. In March and April 2006, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard carried out their own military exercises, demonstrating their experimentation with several Iranian-improvised weapons, including drone-type devices similar to those the first reports attributed to damaging the Israeli missile ship. Iran has reportedly supplied Hezbollah with long-range missiles. more...

Quake Triggers Indonesian Tsunami; 5 Dead (July 17, 2006) - A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake sent a 6-foot-high tsunami crashing into a beach resort on Indonesia’s Java island Monday, killing at least five people and causing extensive damage to hotels, restaurants and homes, the president and witnesses said. People ran up a hill to escape the wave on Pangandaran beach in west Java, a woman who identified herself only as Teti told el-Shinta radio station. “All the houses are destroyed along the beach,” she said. “Small hotels are completely destroyed and at least one restaurant was washed away.” President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono told reporters that at least five people were killed. Lava Flow Increasing From Philippine Volcano (July 17, 2006) - The flow of lava from Mayon volcano has increased, a sign of greater unrest inside the volcano southeast of the Philippine capital, officials warned on Sunday. The increase in the flow of lava has been accompanied by a rise in the amount of sulfur dioxide emitted by Mayon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said in its latest advisory. “One likely scenario is a shift from lava extrusion to explosive eruption,” the institute warned, saying this would be accompanied by deadly mudflows of volcanic ash. The government is still maintaining its six-kilometer (nearly four-mile) radius permanent danger zone around the volcano where no one is supposed to enter, the institute said. However local officials and residents said that some farmers were continuing to farm the fertile slopes around Mayon despite the warning. more...
